Freddie or Max

We’re not sure if we’re having a boy or a girl, pretty set on Matilda for a girl but stuck between Max & Freddie for a boy. Our surname is Fisher and we will most likely give them a longer variation of their BC.

We like Max Arthur but haven’t settled on a middle name for Frederick yet so any suggestions would be great!

Max goes better with the surname. And there are little Freddies everywhere.

Out of your suggestions I prefer Max but if you were planning on having another child and possibly having Matilda, I don’t particularly like having siblings with matching initials.

I think Arthur would go with Frederick but other suggestions could be:
Frederick Sidney
Frederick Hugo
Frederick Owen
Frederick Arlo

Max is so much nicer than Freddie.

Kanaloa · 07/11/2020 23:08

I like Max best, I think Max Fisher sounds better than Freddie Fisher.

Frederick is great but Freddie Fisher might be too much. I really like alliterative names but I think they are a bit marmite.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 08/11/2020 00:24

Oh difficult! I much prefer Max to Freddie (which always sounds a bit cute to me). But the alliteration of Frederick Fisher is very cool, and Frederick is a classic name.
Would you use the more formal Maximilian/Maxim on the birth certificate? That would sway me towards Max....

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 08/11/2020 01:44

Oh and per pp, I think same initials (Matilda/Max) for siblings is fine if different sexes (so the post won't get muddled as you'd have Mr/Miss). Arthur works okay with either boys name choice, but maybe not quite as well with the surname as they both end in the same sound. Any family names you could use as middle name/s?

Freddie Fisher makes me think of a chip shop outlet, or something out of a kids book (no offence intended). Max Fisher makes me think Marvel character 'lawyer by day/crime fighter at night'. But that's just my opinion.

beautifulmonument · 08/11/2020 01:58

Definitely Max over Freddie.
I'm not keen on Freddie anyway but especially with your surname.

brokencrayons · 08/11/2020 01:58

Max Fisher is an awesome name. Freddie Fisher sounds weird to me :) ( fisher is my maiden name btw !)

babynamelover · 08/11/2020 03:34

Max 😁 Maxwell is nice for longer

zigaziga · 08/11/2020 06:43

I don’t mind alliteration but Freddie Fisher or Frederick Fisher doesn’t work.

user1493494961 · 08/11/2020 10:02

Max

Fromthebirdsnest · 08/11/2020 10:33

I have a Max (Maxwell) I love it , his middle name is Thomas ... my nephew is Freddie which I also love but wouldn’t personally use with an F surname x

Fisher1008 · 08/11/2020 21:51

Seems there is a clear winner with Max, my husband will be happy that is his favourite!
