Thoughts on Marguerite

What is your first reaction to the name Marguerite?

There's lots I love about it... The French connection (personal to me), that it means pearl (a name I like but can't use), that it also represents daisies (Daisy being a family name), the range of potential nicknames (Margot, Maggie, Rita, Etta etc.)...

But there's also something stopping me from falling in love with it. It feels rather long even though it's the same number of syllables as Stephanie or Georgina. My other half loves it and I want to too, but I can't put my finger on what's putting me off!

A friend has a dd called Margarita and I never thought of pizza or cocktail. Probably cos I give pizzas and cocktails a miiss.

Oh, I absolutely love it. Like PP have said, it’s a grown up name. So sophisticated and elegant. I’d love to be able to introduce myself as Marguerite. It carries such weight, especially when she’ll be in a room full of Evies and Gracie-Maes (sorry to their parents!) I can imagine Marguerite being a rather mysterious, slightly intimidating, intelligent and well travelled woman. It’d be so sweet and refreshing for a little girl, and suit her at all stages of her adult life. Marvellous choice, I think. Hope you grow to love it, OP! I’d be excited to meet a baby Marguerite!

And it doesn’t make me think of anything edible, pizza, cocktail or margarine.
