Baby due any day and still have no name

I'd love a little help coming up with some names for our baby girl who was due yesterday.

For this entire pregnancy I thought my husband and I had agreed on the name Delilah. I have a feeling he told his parents recently, who I know don't like the biblical and Tom Jones references. He's suddenly said (2 weeks ago) that he doesn't like that she might have negative associations with her name. He won't budge now.

I love the name Delilah, so any suggestions similar would be fantastic. I don't mind Freya. I prefer slightly more unusual names.

DH has suggested:
Cecelia
Lydia
Isla

I think Delilah is lovely, I didn't even know it was a biblical name and actually didn't even think of the song til you mentioned it either.

Other names that give me a similar vibe... Melody, Joy, Felicity

All the best with deciding

BlueJava · 04/11/2020 14:33

Delicia - I had a friend of this name, she was as lovely as the name sounds! But I do think it's unusual. If you use it please tag me and tell me. Smile

Sylvia
Celia
Melanie
Victoria

Whatthebloodyell · 04/11/2020 14:47

Delilah is lovely, as are all your name choices. Though Isla is very popular and Freya is pretty popular too.

Cecilia could be Cici for short.

What about
Saskia
Lucinda
Daphne
Delphine

Aquamarine1029 · 04/11/2020 14:50

Farrah

TheDetectiveBadge · 04/11/2020 14:50

I really like Lydia and Freya as alternatives. Other suggestions:
Isadora
Delphine
Adeline
Leila

SeanCailleach · 04/11/2020 15:05

Er.. Cecilia by Simon and Garfunkel, while being a fantastic song, is not really an improvement on Delilah by Tom Jones Wink

How about:
Tallulah
Jemima
Wynona
Marina

starkid · 04/11/2020 15:12

Dahlia
Dinah
Liliya

emmathedilemma · 04/11/2020 15:26

Delilah is great!
Isla is incredibly popular although I really like it. also like Lydia, not so keen on Cecilia.
What about Delia?

YoniAndGuy · 04/11/2020 16:36

So his parents put him off?

I wouldn't have a bar of that, personally. Is she having his surname - if so, definitely tell him it's Delilah, and in future if you go running to your parents I'll add Petronella Daisybum for middle names too.

Delilah is fab.

markzuckerbergsgreytshirt · 04/11/2020 16:43

Barbara

Lelophants · 04/11/2020 16:44

Dahlia after the flower?

Ladderofyears · 04/11/2020 18:07

I have to confess that the biblical story of Delilah would really put me off the name (and I don't think it's that pretty really).
Cecilia is gorgeous. Freya is lovely too.
How about:
Tabitha
Thea
Cecily
Anastasia
Elspeth

Diverseduvet · 04/11/2020 18:10

Wait till she arrives? Something will jump out at you. You have ages untill you have to register and it gives you a chance to try some names out (just dont tell anyone what your trying)

Flymetothestars · 04/11/2020 21:03

Absolutely love the name Delilah it's so pretty. You won't think about a Tom Jones song when it's your daughters name

Stick with Delilah

If not, how about:

Felicity
Verity
Clementine
Imogen
Jemima
Margot

Penny21xxx · 04/11/2020 23:09

I love Delilah! Such a pretty name that's not overused. One of my favourites but we can't use as we have a niece called Lyla!

timothytoeseatenbyaghoul · 04/11/2020 23:15

Love Delilah and Lydia. Lydia was on my list for my youngest but we left it to her siblings to name her and they chose Alana. Other suggestions: Betsy, tallulah, Megan, Roma, Tabitha, Callie, Savannah, Nicole, verity.

FangsForTheMemory · 04/11/2020 23:21

I love Cecily rather than Cecilia. Also Clara, Iona, Sabine, Elodie.

Minkies13 · 05/11/2020 00:01

I'm loving all these suggestions as well as people telling me which names they prefer from the short list we have. Thank you so much.

Yes, I think I'll wait until she's born to actually name her but it's great we now have a shortlist to go off.
