Thoughts on this name with our surname?

Pregnant with DC1, going to find out the gender in a few weeks but we were talking names for both genders and for a boy I really liked Harrison

However, our surname ends in ‘son’ too, it’s 2 syllables so let’s say it’s Jackson (won’t reveal our surname here)

Does this sound stupid? DH also loves this name but we were worried people might think it sounds a bit, singy songy?

Or are we reading too much into it and does it have a nice ring to it?

My view would be not a good idea. Harrison is a surname that has been appropriated into a first name - I don't personally like it (or other surnamey names tbh) but aside from my personal preference I just think if both names end in son it will sound very strangely like two surnames, and matchy ones at that. Do you have any other options?

Esspee · 03/11/2020 22:45

Harrison Jackson sounds perfectly OK to me.

Tillygetsit · 03/11/2020 22:48

I'm not keen on them together tbh. Harry would be better.

Sorry OP but I’m not a fan of names which have an echo like you’re describing.
Clearly I’m not the most important person when it comes to naming your baby but personally I don’t think it sounds great. Good luck with your pregnancy. X

Fifthtimelucky · 03/11/2020 22:49

I confess I don't like it.

Funnily enough my maiden name ends with a 'son' and the name my parents originally considered for me was Alison. They decided it didn't sound right, because of the two sons, so named me something else.

I wouldn't personally.

emeraldgreeeeeen · 03/11/2020 23:23

I like these opinions! Think we’ll draft up some others, the first giveaway being that when we thought of this name we thought it wouldn’t match our surname so we of course mustn’t have been 100% on it to begin with!

Also love the name Harry! But it’s SIL boyfriends name so would feel quite odd naming him that, I do love that name thought very classic

How about Harris, Harry or Henry instead?

Prettysparkles · 04/11/2020 00:09

Hello. For years i have loved the name Willow for a girl, but just recently thought "oh god, what if she gets bullied and gets called Pussy Willow". Am i just being totally silly? Your thoughts please? Also was wondering on the name Astrid as a second name ? ..... Willow Astrid

MercyBodle · 04/11/2020 00:14

It's not terrible, but not great either - I wouldn't do it. I much prefer Harry!

Enough4me · 04/11/2020 00:19

Harrison Jackson is definitely too many sons. What other names do you like?

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 04/11/2020 00:39

Nobody will know which is the surname. He'll spend his life saying 'No Harrison is my first name, Jackson's my surname'

FuckYouCorona · 04/11/2020 00:44

Its fine.

lucie8881 · 04/11/2020 00:55

I think it's sounds fine but I am probably biased because my youngest son is a Harrison.
