We are having another one, DH and myself are a bit undecided on names. So far are considering the following:

Conrad or Konrad Gottlieb (plus our surname which is Swedish but easy to pronounce)

Wilhelm Gottlieb
Dominic Gottlieb
Benedict Gottlieb
Connor Gottlieb

If it’s a girl:

Margo Gottlieb
Quinn Gottlieb

Leaving Gottlieb out is not an option, all children in my family carry that name for traditional reasons. Any thoughts or suggestions particularly with girl names would be appreciated.

Love Conrad and Dominic. Would also suggest Kaspar and Wilfred.

Your girls names are very different in style, one quite old/modern and the other unisex.

Lena or Clara could work.

What sibling name(s) is it to go with?

foodtoorder · 25/10/2020 17:49

Dominic and Margo

Brot64 · 25/10/2020 18:48

Thanks for responses.

@MaverickDanger

Love Lena but a family member has a daughter with the name. Also very much like Kaspar. Will add to our list which we should be reducing Grin.

We have Frederick, Henrietta and Eleanor. All 3 have middle names too plus the same traditional name.

Love Dominic and Benedict. Your other boys names are lovely too but those are real favourites of mine.

Margo is nice, but I’m not a fan of Quinn.

Ladderofyears · 25/10/2020 19:11

I love Benedict. Conrad is good as well.
Margot is nice but I really don't like Quinn (too close to quim). And I don't think Margot matches up to your other children's names...
Names I think sound good with your other children's names which are GORGEOUS! (but I don't know how they work in Swedish obviously!):
Beatrix/Beatrice
Cecilia (actually I have a Swedish friend called Cecilia so I guess this would work!!)
Constance/Connie
Dorothea
Katherine
Miranda
Camilla
Freya
Tabitha

Benedict,Dominic and Margot are all great. Don’t especially like any of the others, and definitely not Quinn.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 25/10/2020 19:50

With siblings Frederick, Henrietta and Eleanor, I really like Benedict the most, but Dominic is okay. Wilhelm feels quite old -fashioned German/Austrian to me and I don't think Connor matches in style to the others in the sibset.

Of the girls Margo works much better than Quinn, but I still don't really love it - Margaret would fit better. I think a less quirky/trendy name would fit with the sibling names which have a classic, slightly patrician feel to me - maybe Arabella, Georgina, Beatrice, Annabel, Cecilia, Louisa, Caroline, Victoria, Charlotte or Alexandra.

Wilhelm

Not a fan of Margo but better than Quinn which I strongly dislike

Brot64 · 25/10/2020 21:22

Thanks for suggestions. Quinn is now officially out, it was suggested to us as we have been told our children have dated names or rather old men and women names. So we thought we should try something more trendy.

We have narrowed down thanks to your suggestions to:

Dominic
Benedict
Conrad
Kasper

Beatrix
Cecilla and
Constance/ Constantine (not sure with these two)

Conrad is great.

What about Astrid? Would work with your Swedish surname?

Firebird83 · 25/10/2020 21:49

Conrad or Cecilia gmv

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 25/10/2020 22:01

I like both Beatrix and Cecilla. But isn’t Constantine a boys name?

How about Elisabeth, Ingrid or Marguerite?

ZombieOtter · 25/10/2020 22:04

Constance is lovely💗

Tillygetsit · 25/10/2020 22:42

Conrad or Constance would be my choice.

WantToBeMum · 26/10/2020 12:07

Of your suggestions I most like Benedict and Margo, and to go with your existing three I also suggest Casper, Oscar, Ingrid, Martha would match well.
I don't think your names are dated, I would say they are classic and timeless, nice choices.
What about royal names? Carl, Philip, Victoria, Madeleine.

mintich · 26/10/2020 12:09

Conrad or Margo

Enko · 26/10/2020 12:25

Not sure if you are part Swedish or if it is only the surname. However if there is Swedish connections I woild avoid Bennedict as I think it will be seen as a girls name (Benedicte) more usually known in Scandinavia.

I am Danish myself and my son is Conrad so obviously I will vote for Conrad really like Cecilia with your other names. Kasper and Constance are also great.

Brot64 · 26/10/2020 13:08

My DH is Swedish, I am German. Enko, my DH thought I wanted Benedict for a girl all along so that explains it. In Germany both are used with the (e) added for the girls.

What about Conrad Benedict...

Or for a girl

Cecille Beatrix .....

Or Constance Beatrix ?

I think Constance Cecille would be a stretch and too wordy together? Though love both.

Had not considered any of these girl names but after your suggestions I am now drawn to them. Cannot use Karl or Astrid as have close relations with the names.

OP posts:
Enko · 26/10/2020 23:23

Conrad Benedict...

Cecille Beatrix .....

Constance Beatrix

I like all of those and agree Constance Cecille is too close (though lovely names on their own)

Brot64 · 27/10/2020 22:46

Thanks all.

We have settled for Conrad Benedict if it's a boy and Cecille Beatrix if a girl.

OP posts:
MikeUniformMike · 28/10/2020 12:47

Conrad or Konrad - Conrad spelling is OK, don't like Konrad
Wilhelm Gottlieb - fine
Dominic Gottlieb - Dominic Cummings
Benedict Gottlieb - Mr Cumberbatch
Connor Gottlieb - Conor is a better spelling. Name was overpopular about 20 yrs ago, so seems dated, but it's nice.

I'd probably choose Conrad.

Benedicte for a girl is nice - is it pronounced Benedicta?
Beatrix is nice. How about Beate?
Constance is nice but Contantine is a boy's name.

MikeUniformMike · 28/10/2020 12:48

Bennetta or Benedetta for a girl? I'm not keen on the dictuh sound in Benedicte. Bente is nice.

Brot64 · 29/10/2020 18:59

@MikeUniformMike hadn't thought of Mr Cummings, that gave me a chuckle. We have settled for Conrad Benedict (DH particularly likes Benedict so no out of this one) or Cecille Beatrix for a girl (though not sure whether we should go for Beatrice or Beatrix). I still have 4 months to go and with MIL actively sending suggestions we might end up with a different combo. Thank you.
