A name I've gone back and forth on is Penelope. I don't mind it being shortened to P but I don't like Penny or Nellie.

What are your thoughts on Penelope and what else could it be shortened to?

I know a Penelope who is known as Pip and one known as Nell. The adult Penelopes I know all go by Penny.

DH and I didn't use the name Elinor because we felt strongly about the various shortenings.

I have heard Poppy and Ellie as alternative nicknames.

I only know one Penelope and she's just that - Penelope. Gorgeous name.

I like Nell as a diminutive, but not Nellie/Nelly, and I'm not mad on Penny.

@LifeInAHamsterWheel I really really dislike Phoebe for some reason, thank you though. Smile

@EmilySpinach If she were to like it and want to go by it I don't think I'd be so bothered, though I wouldn't encourage it. 😂

@StewDumpLynette Yes, and I don't mind P to be honest. I like Pia but I'm not sure that it works as a nickname for Penelope?

How about Clementine

bleachblondemom · 26/10/2020 21:13

I love Penelope, it’s a shame that a lot of people will automatically shorten it just because it’s a longer than average name. A beautiful name like that should always be said in full!

Raei · 26/10/2020 23:59

@Flymetothestars Not a fan, but thank you.

@bleachblondemom I know, such a shame. 🙁

I have a Penelope she is mainly Nell / Nelly

Kanaloa · 27/10/2020 01:05

I think the only obvious nicknames are Penny/Pen and Nellie/Nell. If her middle name had the right initial maybe P.J?

blanasting · 27/10/2020 01:40

How about Elodie. Classic like Penelope but could be Ellie or Elle o

Ottilie?
