I think I'd switch the middle names round - Maeve Ella Mary.

Maeve Mary Ella is pretty, but sounds a bit like Maeve Mariella, which is also very pretty.

Thank you. Xx

Mary is a family name we have agreed to put in any name as a middle name and Maeve and Ella are names we like. Xx

I agree that Maeve Ella Mary works well.

MrsBungle · 24/10/2020 22:28

I also like Maeve Ella Mary

newtothenet · 24/10/2020 22:28

Maeve Mary Ella is beautiful. She sounds like she should be a character in a classic novel like The Secret Garden or something.

caringcarer · 24/10/2020 22:38

I love Maeve and Mary was my Mum's name. I like Maeve Mary Ella.

Focalpoint · 24/10/2020 22:41

Maeve is Irish for Mary so seems a bit odd to use both.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 24/10/2020 22:45

I love the name Maeve, it always feels very feminine and romantic to me withut being frilly. Maeve Mary Ella is very pretty (although as a pp said they kind of smoosh into Maeve Mariella when said, but this isn't really a problem as it still sounds nice). I'd decide which way around to use the middle names depending on what flows better with your surname.

Focalpoint · 24/10/2020 22:45

Now doubting myself so ignore me. I just know someone who was registered as Mary but called Maeve.

DramaAlpaca · 24/10/2020 22:49

Maeve is Irish for Mary

No it isn't. The Irish version of Mary is Máire.

Maeve derives from Meadhbh, an ancient Irish warrior queen. It's also the name of the queen of the fairies in Irish mythology.

DramaAlpaca · 24/10/2020 22:50

@Focalpoint sorry, cross posted with you there.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 24/10/2020 22:50

Maeve is a figure from Irish Mythology, and the name has a very different etymological root to Mary - but May/Mae was a common nickname historically for Mary so I can see where the confusion came from.

I think it sounds fine.
I think Maeve Ella Mary flows a little better though.

MercyBodle · 25/10/2020 01:27

I think Maeve Mary Ella is beautiful.

Although you could switch it to Maeve Ella Mary, I think that sounds less beautiful and more expected.

bulldoz · 25/10/2020 02:47

Maeve Marri-Elle / mariella . Love Mary though it's a beautiful name but not overly keen on 2 middle names so I would join then and make 2 traditional names a more modern middle name x

Mamabear20 · 25/10/2020 03:01

If I leave Ella out does Maeve Mary sound too samey?

OP posts:
groovergirl · 25/10/2020 03:11

Give her all three. Maeve Mary Ella is a lovely combination.

Mamabear20 · 25/10/2020 03:32

How is the first name pronounced please?

If I'm pronouncing it right it's all lovely and I'd go for all 3.
