Charlie for a girl?

Hrjelin · 23/10/2020 16:01

We love Charlie Gwen or Charli Gwen for a girl. Gwen is mother’s name.

Charlotte is out of question because it’s my sisters name plus I love the name Charlie on it’s own.

What is the best way to spell it for a girl?

I like Charlie

Greysparkles · 23/10/2020 16:02

I think charley is the traditional spelling for a girl
Charlie is going to get confused for a boy. Alot

I'm not usually a fan of younique spellings but if you really don't want Charlotte on the birth certificate then I think Charli looks more like a girl's name than Charlie

How about Carli/Carly as an alternative?

Katgolde · 23/10/2020 16:12

I prefer the Charlie spelling.

Scarby9 · 23/10/2020 16:16

Charlene as a full name if yoù don't like Charlotte?

BackforGood · 23/10/2020 17:26

If you give her the name Charlie, she is going to spend a lifetime having people assume she is a boy, poor thing. Charlie has been quite popular for many years. Everyone will assume she is a boy.

Quizeerascal · 23/10/2020 17:30

I think people will assume shes a boy or a Charlotte. I think Charlie can work on a girl but it needs Charlotte as a full name imo. Gwen is lovely

So would Charley, as both of the kids I know with that spelling are boys. I think Charlie/Charley is a boys name full stop, except as a nickname for Charlotte.

Love it

I also think, whatever you put on the birth certificate, it is too close to your sister's name anyway.
There are hundreds of thousands of names in the world, I wouldn't call my dc the same name (or a shortening of the same name) as my sister, or someone they were often going to be together with.

They really won't. My friend has made it to 56 years old and never had a problem with it, even when we were in secondary high school.

Anything but Charlie.

Charley is my fav but Charli is ok.

I know a female Charli that gets shortened to Charls which always amuses me considering Charlie is short for Charles.

Charley Gwen

MikeUniformMike · 24/10/2020 11:50

Boy's name.

Enko · 24/10/2020 12:24

I Don't like it at all

MercyBodle · 24/10/2020 12:33

Charlie is a fairly popular girl's name as well as for boys. I prefer this spelling over Charli.
