Carmen
Lucy
Maria
Susannah
Scarlett
Bridget
April

Would also like to know what you think of each name beyond a rating. What kind of girls, women do you imagine with these names? Do they suit a child, teenager and adult woman...etc

Thank you.

8.Carmen - feels very Hispanic, more so than Maria as it doesn't feel as classic.
4.Lucy - traditional but feels a bit cute/young to me for some reason.
3.Maria - like Susannah and Louisa in classical feel but somehow feels a bit Hispanic (which may be a slightly strange if you are not?). Could maybe consider Marina, Marianne/Mariana?
1.Susannah - very beautiful, classic and elegant but not too popular (but could cause spelling issues with/without the h).
9.Scarlett - too modern for me, harsh sound.
7.Bridget - not that keen on the "bridge" sound, plus very Irish to me (again only may be unusual if you don't have heritage/links to that country). Birdie is a super cute nickname for it though!
5.April - it's okay but feels a bit modern. I prefer May as a first name.
2.Louisa - like Susannah in feel, but not as keen on the "Lou" sound.
6.Sasha - too nickname/unisex for me, but a nice sound when used as a shortening for Alexandra.

I like Susannah by far the most , followed by Louisa and Maria. I wonder if you could even use Sasha as a possible nickname for Susannah, it has very similar letters and sounds...

CorianderLord · 23/10/2020 20:33

Like them all except Scarlett (just makes me think of the Scarlett letter) and Bridget which makes me think of bitchy American teenagers

Carmen and Susana are lovely

CorianderLord · 23/10/2020 20:34

I like Sasha (although it's a male nickname in Russia) not fond of Louisa but don't hate it

SacreBleeurgh · 23/10/2020 20:34

acerred · 23/10/2020 20:36

I have a primary school aged Bridget in the family, it really suits her.

Firebird83 · 24/10/2020 09:31

I love Susanna and Louisa! Carmen and Maria are great too.

SplitEndsNHairyLegs · 24/10/2020 09:38

Really dislike Sasha. It feels quite 80s. I prefer Sacha for a boy.

Louisa is lovely. Has the same classic feel as Maria and Susannah.

EarlGreyJenny · 24/10/2020 09:53

Carmen Not keen but don't know why *
Lucy dull
Maria better
Susannah like this one. Like Susie too
Scarlett just think of the Gogglebox woman now
Bridget not keen on the sound
April* cheesey
Sasha lovely *
Louisa* ok but not as good as susannah or Sasha

IdblowJonSnow · 24/10/2020 09:58

Not keen on scarlett too popular.
Sasha is awful.
I like Lucy, Maria and april.
Carmen is an exotic, womanly name.

EarlGreyJenny · 24/10/2020 10:08

@IdblowJonSnow while we're rating names, you have the best username on Mumsnet

Rainbowqueeen · 24/10/2020 10:09

Absolutely love Sasha

Carmen and Maria are older European ladies dressed in black wearing rosary beads.
Never been keen on names that are also months.
Lucy Bridget Louisa and Susannah suit all ages.

lanbro · 24/10/2020 10:12

Love Maria and Carmen, and Louisa

Lucy is so boring, it's a name I can't stand despite being a diminutive of my name! Wishy washy and looks ugly, prefer Lucie if had to choose one

Def no to bridget, old lady name, sounds hard
Scarlett too common
Others just meh

CaffiSaliMali · 24/10/2020 11:42

Carmen - I don't like the Car sound but it's a perfectly ok name
Lucy - a lovely classic
Maria - nice
Susannah - lovely though I prefer Susanna spelling. Susie is a nice nickname.
Scarlett - not to my taste
Bridget - it's ok but there are nicer names on your list
April - nice
Sasha - feels more like a nickname but is ok. Prefer Natasha.
Louisa - lovely and has an elegant feel

Lucy, Susannah and Louisa are my favourites from your list.

Enko · 24/10/2020 12:30

Carmen Susannah and Louisa are my favourite but none of them are awful names.

MercyBodle · 24/10/2020 12:44

Out of 10:

Carmen - 2. A Spanish dancer
Lucy -9 Classic, charming, popular though
Maria -3 - Feels religious to me. And would assume Italian or Spanish.
Susannah -10 Can't fault this, classic but not over-used, good nicknames
Scarlett - 8 - feisty, but has been a little over-used
Bridget- 9 Strong (and means strength!), grown-up, under-used classic, has been a well-used name in England for centuries, so definitely don't see it as just Irish, good nicknames
April - 7 Sweet and a bit different
Sasha - 7 - friendly
Louisa - 7 -elegant, but a little too frilly for me. Still good though.

My clear favourites are Susannah, Bridget, Lucy and Scarlett.

emilybrontescorsett · 25/10/2020 07:54

Carmen - quite exotic, dark haired, free spurited, wilful.
Lucy- a bit boring, sly.
Maria - a bit old fashioned , wears jewellery and head scarves
Susannah - likeable, witty, intelligent

emilybrontescorsett · 25/10/2020 07:57

April - feisty, no nonsense
Bridgette - a plump woman, sits taking it all in whilst working in the office.

emilybrontescorsett · 25/10/2020 07:58

Scarlett - lived by everyone, attractive, get a on in life.

emilybrontescorsett · 25/10/2020 08:05
