Yeah it's fine. Not to my taste.
Would fit right in with the Alfies, Teddys, Albies and Eddies. Frank?

Cassie Ventura has a LO called Frankie Stone Fine which is a pretty rock'n'roll name imo.

Garcellesaidwhaaat · 15/10/2020 23:04

*Frankie Stone Fine is a girl.

DramaAlpaca · 15/10/2020 23:09

No. Francis is a fine name, but not Frankie or Frank.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 15/10/2020 23:15

I know 3 Frankie's - 1 boy, 2 girls.
I think I see it more as a girls name.

I like Francis though.

AbraCadavra · 15/10/2020 23:17

I should have said it would be Francis as full name/official name. Frankie nickname. Can't use just Frank as we have a K surname and it doesn't roll off the tongue

What do we think of Francis? So far people have said it sounds feminine because of Frances... I prefer it for a man though personally.

Francis is great! An underused classic.

Bubbinsmakesthree · 15/10/2020 23:30

I have a Francis, nn Frankie (or occasionally Frank). I know someone who is named Francis but known as France. Fran can be used as a nn for a boy too (eg Fran Healy of Travis). I chose it because it’s versatile - all the permutations of the name have a very different feel. I don’t know which will suit him when he’s older but I always think it’s nice to have a name that’s adaptable.

SeanCailleach · 16/10/2020 06:47

Classic name.

I have a Francis too😊 he’s always Francis but he’s only a toddler. I don’t particularly like Frankie but love Fran.

Francis is a nice name. Frankie always makes me think 'goes to Hollywood'.

Mumsnut · 16/10/2020 07:09

Franco?

AbraCadavra · 16/10/2020 08:01

TY all. I'm still confused about Francis/Frank. I like Frank in its own right too just worried about K surname as to me, I think it sounds like Fran Kettle IYSWIM?

Would you use just Frank?

OP posts:
AbraCadavra · 16/10/2020 08:02

Ps surname isn't Kettle lol!

I really like Frank. I'm not keen on Francis or Frankie (for a boy) though. If Frank doesn't work with your surname I can understand not using it. That would rule them all out for me.

AbraCadavra · 16/10/2020 09:07

Yeah @MercyBodle I'm not sure it's a bad clash, I am just conscious of it. So it would be like the same sounds of Frank Carter, Frank Clarkson, Frank Kelley etc. You get the picture from those...
Does that clash too much? :/

Frankie always makes me think of Frankie Dettori, big personality.
Nice to hear of a baby Francis for a change.

elfran · 16/10/2020 09:23

I love Francis (and Frances, both are great names)! I'd use it and push Frank or Frankie as a nn.

zigaziga · 16/10/2020 09:43

I like it - Francis as full name, Frankie as a nickname for now, might become Frank when older but might not..

MikeUniformMike · 16/10/2020 11:18

I'd guess a Frankie to be a girl, Francesca. It seems babyish for a boy.

Francis will be Fean or Frank so I'd not use it with a K surname.

MikeUniformMike · 16/10/2020 12:03

Fran not Fean.
I'd use it as a middle name to avoid the short form.

Oneandabean · 16/10/2020 12:19

Francis to me is girly. Frank is fine with frankie as a nn

AriettyHomily · 16/10/2020 12:21

Francis.

The nickname will revolve naturally.

He will forever say 'Francis...I s'

Can you tell what my name is with an e?!

RuthW · 16/10/2020 12:28

Francis is lovely

AbraCadavra · 16/10/2020 19:07

@AriettyHomily I'm not following you? It's Friday lol!
