What are your opinions on Ernest nn Ernie?

I really like it

Suspect it will become very popular in next few years though (along with Ronnie, Lenny, Bertie etc)

I absolutely love this name. It was one of our options and will still be a contender if we have another DC.

Horrible. You might as well dress the poor little boy up in one of those dreadful waistcoat and flat cap combos while you're at it.

Will he have a brother named Bert? Look up Bert and Ernie.

Used to be a road in West Norwood called Ernie Street. In the 1950s it was changed to Ernest Avenue; no trees though.

I'm aware that there are things like Bert and Ernie and there's Ernest Rutherford that could put people off the name. I'm really struggling to find a boys name me and DH both agree on but he mentioned Ernest when we were having our last son and I wasn't too keen but with the nickname Ernie it's now growing on me. My favourite is still Abel but DH isn't so sure.

Ernest is much nicer than Abel. We almost picked it 🙃

Baby Ernest/Ernie is fine and cute but 14 year old Ernest getting a hard time at school because of his old fashioned name isn't good.

Except he won’t, because he will be friends with boys called Reggie, Albert, Stanley, Alfred, Ralph, Ronnie, Albie and Arthur - all of which were top 100 in 2019.
