For a Celtic baby girl. (Not mine). What's the best spelling? Would Welsh spelling Befen be better?

You can also pronounce it Bay-bin, without fada ón Last i. I prefer that. Béibhinn.
That’s by far the most usual spelling, I’d have said.

It was the alternative name for DD, and now you’ve reminded me to add it to my list for potential dc3!

I know a few. It’s a lovely, unique name. I’ve only heard it pronounced Bevin.

That’s what I meant, not Bay-bin!

I’ve never come across Béibhínn (Bay-VEEN) at all. Less keen, given that it inevitably recalls one of my bugbears, Aoibheann (mis)pronounced ‘Ay-VEEN’.

Blavatskyite I agree completely! Anyway Bay-veen to my ear doesn't sound nice, two hard vowels like that together.
