Second on our list for a boy is Joss. Thoughts on this too please?

Lovely

Imissmoominmama · 16/09/2020 18:46

My Grandfather was Jos, short for Joseph. I love it.

Marmite27 · 16/09/2020 18:47

Wheadon... known for Buffy the Vampire slayer.

DramaAlpaca · 16/09/2020 19:16

Like it a lot.

User27aw · 16/09/2020 19:20

Jos Buttler's full name is Joseph.

GoingBackTo505 · 16/09/2020 19:23

The only people named Joss that I know of are women, so I was surprised to read it was for a boy.

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 16/09/2020 19:24

I know a Joss - he’s a cool dude

netsybetsy · 16/09/2020 19:52

I think of Joss Stone female singer

user1493494961 · 16/09/2020 20:00

Jos Buttler's given name is Joseph. I know a Joss, short for Josiah, which I think is lovely. I think it needs a longer name on BC.

DonttouchthatLarry · 16/09/2020 20:01

One of my dogs is called Joss - he's named after the legendary fell runner Joss Naylor, an amazing man.

VenusClapTrap · 16/09/2020 20:45

Nice name. Prefer the Jos spelling.

Firebird83 · 16/09/2020 22:09

Love it. Prefer the Joss spelling!

HowFastIsTooFast · 16/09/2020 22:33

If it's short for Joseph maybe, but I don't like it as a full name. I can just imagine the poor kid spending his life explaining that he's not called Josh, and god help him if he has a lisp.

Inkpaperstars · 16/09/2020 22:35

I clicked on this to mention lisps too, it was my first thought. I wouldn't risk it personally, unless you really like the name. I think it is a bit nondescript anyway.

RunningFromInsanity · 16/09/2020 22:53

I actually like it. Doesn’t need to be short for anything.
Much prefer it as a boys name to a girls

MercyBodle · 17/09/2020 00:26

I like it. Either Joss on its own or as short for Joseph is fine.

pallisers · 17/09/2020 00:45

Lovely. The only one I knew (many years ago) was a girl. but now that I've read this thread I wonder if it was short for Josephine.

Lobelia76 · 17/09/2020 00:54

Love it

Twizbe · 17/09/2020 11:59

I like it spelt Jos and as a shortened form of Joseph

Thefaceofboe · 17/09/2020 20:43

I like it but short for Joseph or Josiah.

Siennabear · 17/09/2020 20:47

Love it

Rubybluesy · 18/09/2020 00:35

Stick?

LittleTiger007 · 18/09/2020 08:02

It makes me think of the actor Joss Ackland. It’s a good name, not overused.

RosieLemonade · 18/09/2020 20:52

We love Jos after Buttler as well. But our daughters name starts with a J and ends with an s so we can’t use it. I would have Joseph and shorten it.
