Hello all,

I'm 37+ 4 with my second baby. Sex unknown. It took us some time after DD1 was born to name her and I was keen to avoid that this time around but I'm still not happy with any of the names on our shortlist. DH is incredibly picky and it's been a frustrating process. I'd like a name that goes with the name of our first, which is Clara. We need both boys and girls names. I'm also quite picky, which doesn't help. Ideally, it'd have:

  • a nice meaning
  • a Latin origin, like Clara, though I appreciate that this may be tricky
  • a different initial from C (though I could go for a C name if it were a boy, I just don't like the idea of two Miss C Bumps getting their mail confused)
  • A different ending- no a endings please
  • No er endings; conflicts with surname
  • Not top twenty in the popularity stakes
  • Not so common I'll have grown up with three of four of them. The more uncommon the better, really. I'd never met a Clara before I used the name (though it's shot up in popularity in the six years since!)

Hoping someone has some suggestions we've not thought of yet!

Thank you. Sadly not there yet but it's been helpful to have some more suggestions. Looks like we'll end up naming this one well after it's born too!
