My DC are getting there first puppy in 8 weeks. It's a yorkie/bichon friese Cross, the excitement is unreal.
They love Jasmine. Thought I'd throw it out to mumsnet. We will be collecting Halloween night, I suggested Luna to keep it festive... Any other suggestions for an adorable Halloween pup? They love human names for their pets, we have Susie the cat already!

BTW if our little pooch turns out to be a boy it will be a Henry. So opinions on Jasmine pls?!

Bichon’s are such lovely dogs! Congrats. Keeping in theme, what about a witchy name like Bellatrix, Zelda, Trixie or Glinda (as in the Good from Oz...might pave the way for any training woes?!)

Tillygetsit · 03/09/2020 22:34

Our first dog when I was tiny was Jasmine! She was called Jazzy quite a lot. Your dc have excellent taste.

One practical thing to think about when considering the name Jasmine is that it’s quite soft. General advice for naming dogs is to use 2-syllable names with slightly hard sounds. Think of the sound the dog will hear when you’re calling them. ‘Hen-ry’ is great for this (as is ‘Su-sie’) - what other names do your DC like?

WankyDoodleDandy · 03/09/2020 22:49

Re. dog communication, Jasmine with the nickname ‘Ja-zie’ is good!

Inanutshelldaze · 03/09/2020 22:49

Brilliant suggestions thanks so much 😍😍😍 we have no idea what the little one is going to look like but the mum bichon is snow white & the dad is a lovely glossy black & tan yorkie. Feel like a small child😂😂😂

So one minute you post a thread asking about this mix. After lots of negative/warning posts it’s now a done deal?
Shame. Sad

WankyDoodleDandy · 03/09/2020 22:55

Oh wow. I didn’t realise this history @Wolfiefan
🙁

Inanutshelldaze · 03/09/2020 22:57

What do you mean wolfiefan? I asked for opinions on the dog temperament on the dogs thread this morning & after speaking & calling round to the breeders this morning we decided against the cavachon. We are delighted & very excited for the new addition to our family. Any name suggestions would be much appreciated wolfiefan😘😘

stophuggingme · 03/09/2020 23:00

What do you mean if it turns out to be a boy? Don’t you know the sex of the puppy?

Also a Yorkie / bichon cross. What does that even look like?what is the temperament?

Wolfiefan · 04/09/2020 08:01

OP just wants a cute puppy. Not interested in proper research on breed traits or health or how decent a breeder is. Sad

Inanutshelldaze · 04/09/2020 09:57

Wolfie you're so funny! the breeder is my neighbour, I've known her since I was a little girl! You know nothing about her Yes we want a cute puppy to give a very good home to & give lots of love. We have looked into adoption but unfortunately the dogs they have are too big for our house.
Actually considering naming the dog Wolfie now as it's a Halloween puppy 🐕🐕 thanks for all your help & for inadvertently naming our little fur baby!!!

Wolfiefan · 04/09/2020 12:38

So no rescues anywhere have smaller dogs?
Just because she’s your neighbour doesn’t mean she’s a decent breeder?
It’s such a shame you find animal welfare such a funny issue.

Inanutshelldaze · 04/09/2020 12:43

I don't find animal welfare funny whatsoever. I personally find you funny! Saying I never researched my neighbour who I've known all my life! I didn't research the temperment? I explained in the other thread I grew up with a yorkshire/West Highland cross so I know what to expect with the terrier breed.
However thank you for contributing to this thread, we can't wait to meet baby Wolfie next month 🐕😘

Sheepdogs and other working dogs like terriers usually get single-syllable names.

micc · 04/09/2020 18:16

What about Wednesday If your getting it on Halloween, call it Wendy! Or Hallie? 🤔🤣

I’ve just read a thread about lockdown puppies already being flogged. Something about it made me return to this thread. I wonder why Hmm The language used and the mawkish drivel must be it. At least they didn’t try and goad a genuine dog lover and responsible owner with an established reputation on this site with provocative nonsense about their “baby’s” new name.

If you call a Yorkie / BF cross “Wolfie” you are either being ironic or a liar. Or a

Still I don’t suppose they will be walked much - whichever sex they eventually turn out to be - so nobody will have the opportunity to smirk

And the woman who is churning these pups out is most definitely not in it for the love of either breed.

Wonder if you’ll be advertising “with a heavy heart “ in six months Hmm

I can think of a few for this one

I would go with Jason or Damien

"Furbaby" is not nice. A dog - or cat - is not a baby. It is a sentient creature with the right to be treated with kindness and dignity.

My pet is not a baby. He is the boss.

Just been chatting to someone walking his dog. Said he had no idea of how stubborn the dog would be and how much exercise it would need before he got him Hmm. Both seemed happy and healthy though.

MikeUniformMike · 04/09/2020 20:08

Having looked at your other thread OP, I think the best dog for you would be a soft toy one or a nodding one for your car parcel shelf.
