Did you use a name for your baby suggested by MN?

I didn't.. but just wondering. I did ask under another username for suggestions, but didn't find a anything quite right. I often suggest things for people and would love to know that someone actually used a MN suggestion hopefully mine, but I name change too much!

No.
I find it best to ignore most of mumsnet opinion tbh, doing the opposite seems to turn out well Grin

@Oneandabean what was it ? I guess this could be a short lived thread if nobody will revels their names though.
I'm wanted welsh names on my thread,?that could be pronounced were we lived in London. All the suggestions were very old fashioned traditional one HmmMaybe my request wasn't feasible.

No, but I didn't ask. My heritage and ethnicity ('white other') are not British and I think if I asked MN for baby name suggestions, I'd be met with only British/American names.

I asked for opinions on a name I was already strongly leaning towards for DS and received all positive feedback. He's now 3 and his name is Matthias, MN approved :)

Not sure how much the thread influenced my thinking, though, to be honest - I only received a handful of responses anyway.

@togetsomeperspective it’s traditional to have 2 middle names in my family, we’d chosen Seren for one but couldn’t find anything that flowed, someone suggested Seren Amelia and I loved it. Amelia wasn’t so popular back then though.

I did ask actually and I think it helped a bit.

I have discovered a lot of Welsh names I I didn't otherwise know of on here which I would consider strongly - Tesni, Meira, Osian and Macsen for example.

I was already familiar with Alys, Eira, Mari, Morwenna and Tomos.

No baby yet so haven't had a chance to use any name but all the names above are high on my list and some came from MN.

Found this and thought of you OP. It's from 2018 so shouldn't be too out of date. The author is the British Baby Names lady and her website is well researched.

I asked about a different name and Mumsnet put me off it. They suggested Cillian which we went with and I'm so glad we chose it over the other names.

Scottishgirl85 · 24/08/2020 20:32

I asked MN what preference was between Iona and Morven and went with the popular option. It did also align with family and friend's opinions too Grin

CaffiSaliMali · 25/08/2020 08:22

Oh I love Iona (both the Scottish and Welsh versions) and Morven. You have excellent taste Scottishgirl Grin

I asked opinions on top 10 then created a table and logged each MN response as a tally against each name 🙈 two came out top but one was vetoed by DP so we went for the other one. That said it was our fave from the beginning anyway

I also once saw a really unique name mentioned on here which I loved and would never have considered and am now saving it for if I have a boy
