Thoughts on Rae for a girl and which middles names would pair well?

I like it but feel like it needs a longer name to back it up. Love it as a shortened form of Rachel. Could possibly be short for Aurelia too

I had this in mind today and realised Rae is quite hard to follow, because it can act like the first syllable of a longer word and form another word with the first sound of the middle name.

For example, you couldn't use a middle name starting with P, because it would sound like rape. e.g. Rae Paula = Rape Orla. Or Rae Georgia = Rage Orgia.

But, you have to be careful with vowels, because you can get an awkward pause, to keep the names apart, or they might run together e.g. Rae Ava (pause), Rae Amy (run together = Ramie)

Some names will flow really well but a lot won't.

So I think Rae Sophie works, or Rae Lola. Rae Feliciity (rafe elicity isn't bad). N could be good, making 'rain', so e.g. Rae Norah, Rae Nina. W is ok, Rae Willow, Rae Willa.

You can't use V (Rave), Z (Raze), D (Raid), K / hard C / Q (Rake).

If you like it, use it! It's a normal and acceptable name.

Personally I really don't like it because the ae together looks ugly to me, just like Mae or Maeve. But that's just a matter of taste, and you probably wouldn't like my children's names.

I like it, and the Rae spelling looks lovely written down. (I'm very big on how names look on paper!)

Or you could do the normal / popular thing and use Rae as a second or hyphenated name e.g. Millie Rae, Sophie Rae etc, then just call her Rae for short.

All your choices are top 10, or have been, for years, grace/ellaevieeffieellaemilyameliaelle/Sophia/rose/Olivia/may/mae/mai, all ubiquitous and interchangeable.

Rae is lovely as a first name. If you NEEDED a long version, Ramona, Reagan or Aurelia (which does have a 'rae' sound in the middle surely?!) would be nice.

Grace and Eva are two of the most popular names at the moment, your child will be in amongst a sea of Eva-Grace/Gracie-Rae/Eva-Rae whichever combination. It’s so boring.

I like Eva, but my god there are about 75 Eva/Ava/Evie’s in the playground right now. With Grace hyphenated.
