As subject states, I have a 17 month little boy called Flynn and his middle name is Rocco. I am due baby number 2 march 2021, don't know the sex yet but I am stressed out more so over boys names. Girls names I like are Wren and River but I am completely at a loss for boys names. Looking for suggestions, preferably not too popular names if possible x

Flynn and Rafferty

ihoeihoeihoe · 18/08/2020 22:26

My son is called Maverick.

Also love Ace, Axel, Ozzy, Dexter, Dax

Flynn2019 · 19/08/2020 06:24

I absolutely love Rudy but my little boys friend is called that, so I won't use it. I love all the names you have suggested it's more trying to convince my husband lol x

I do love Rex, but do you think it will become really popular? X

Flynn2019 · 19/08/2020 06:26

It's so difficult isn't it? I think girls names are so easy compared to boys. I absolutely love Fox and would go really well with our long surname. The husband would need a lot of convincing on this one I think though 🙈

I love love Forest and have already suggested this but my husband wasn't too sure. I love River for a boy also but my husband is set on that being a girls name. There is pretty much a theme on that my husband and I struggle to agree on names lol wish I could choose on my own x

Love love this combo. I have a really long surname though and not sure if it would be too much of a mouthful. I would probably call him Raff for short, love it though, thanks x

Jude is lovely! Probably more husband friendly too.

I'm not a huge fan of the animal trend (fox, bear etc) just not sure how well they will ace.

I'm due in April and if another boy he will be Casper if I get my own way!

chickensoup23 · 19/08/2020 07:30

Age* not ace!

Flynn2019 · 19/08/2020 08:10

I really like Jude too, husband on the fence with it, but we know a couple of judge's already and think that's what is putting us off. Love love capser but husband doesn't. We have such different taste in names. He really likes lennon but I don't like it at all. We even downloaded the kinder app and have 2 matches 🙈

@chickensoup23 we have really similar taste - love your list

Whatsyourflava · 19/08/2020 10:35

Huxley or Dexter if you like names with an X

Rex is number 158 in the charts but if you drill down into the actual figures it's growth trajectory has massively slowed so it's not booming the way RoMan has. Worth mentioning boys names with an R are getting very popular so you might want to avoid for that reason but Rex specifically isn't booming

Tristan
Curtis
Cole
Barnaby
Laurence nn Laurie
Casper
Eric
Chester
Otto
Otis
Bodhi

Whatsyourflava · 19/08/2020 10:38

@ButterflyOfFreedom a list of lovely names but many of them extremely popular already and far higher up the charts than Rex so if that's too popular for you OP, don't even consider names like Ezra or Rowan/Roman which are on a huge steep upward trajectory and well within top 100/top 50 in 2018 so will be top 30 by time 2020 statistics out. Isaac is top 20 I think so avoid that if popularity of Rex a concern. Lovely name though!

Flynn2019 · 19/08/2020 11:22

Thanks everyone for your replies. You guys seem to have this name thing down to a T. I love Roman and Rowan but again, and I don't know why, I am out off names if they are really popular. My surname is long and has 3 syllables so ideally looking for a short or one syllable name. Not asking much am I? Lol I suppose I should stress more when I actually find out the gender lol

OP posts:
Winkywoop · 19/08/2020 11:28

If you like Roman and Rowan, how about Robin?

fruitbrewhaha · 19/08/2020 11:32

I do like Fox, what about Wolf, as it is a name rather than just an animal.
