Thoughts? Not sure what I think of it. Is it dated?

St John maybe instead?

Sorry, but who is going to call their child St John? Grin

Don't- it's not due for a comeback yet. Only know 2 Simons at present and both late 40's - one a sales rep and the other a gardener- not that their professions matter but it's a 70's kid name still Grin

It’s very much of my generation (born late 60s) along with names like Paul and Mark. (NB not so much Keith, Colin and Alan who tended to be 10-20 years older).

It was never a particular favourite of mine but it is solid and classic - the ones I know are good guys, so I think of it as a good guy’s name. I’d be surprised but pleased to meet a baby Simon.

I’ve never known a child named Simon. I think it is a classic ready for a come back.

We had a koi carp called Simon. He was the last one we named and couldn't think what else to call it

Classic biblical name out of popularity currently (along with Stephen, Mark, Paul, Andrew, Timothy) that is a really good name IMO. Have to say though, the nickname Si isn't great. I'd love to meet a little Simon.

FizzingWhizzbee123 · 21/08/2020 17:37

Not keen. Feels dated rather than classic to me, and does seem a bit “wet” as a PP said.

GlennRheeismyfavourite · 21/08/2020 17:40

Awful - loathe it!!!

alexdgr8 · 21/08/2020 17:46

simon is perfectly acceptable, also simeon.
it's not like keith, colin, trevor, alan; which are ok anyway.
those are very mid 20th century.
simon like all biblical names is a classic throughout the ages.

Watercoloursky · 21/08/2020 18:20

I love the name, but I'm biased as it's my fiance's name! He's 41. I was also at school with a couple of Simons, and at uni with another, so they'd be mid-30s now. I don't know any little Simons, but I think it's pretty timeless - a good solid name that's not as popular as other Biblical names like John, James, etc.

There’s always one. 😂

ImRealHonest · 21/08/2020 18:30

Definitely a Colin / Keith type name. Not ready for the comeback

STBXH is called Simon. His best mates are Colin and Keith. He also has a mate called Clive.

Please don’t do it to a poor child.

SpeedofaSloth · 22/08/2020 21:13

I know an 11yo Simon, it's a nice name.
