WDYT of Emmeline and how would you pronounce it?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Ginfizplease · 17/08/2020 18:32

Love it. Was on my hypothetical 3rd child list.

Em-eh-leen

aureliacecilia · 17/08/2020 18:39

Same way as @Ginfizplease. As in Emmeline Pankhurst.

Whatsyourflava · 17/08/2020 18:45

Love Emmie or Emmy

foobio · 17/08/2020 18:56

My daughter's name, we pronounce it 'Emma-leen' but she's known as Emmie.

We only know one other, and think she was subconsciously named after ours!

reefedsail · 17/08/2020 18:57

Yep, lovely. Would also say Em=eh=leen, with the emphasis on leen.

MikeUniformMike · 17/08/2020 19:13

Emm-uh-leen. Not keen.

caringcarer · 17/08/2020 19:19

Great name, pronounce as the Hot Chocolate song.

Oneandabean · 17/08/2020 19:40

I’ve only ever heard Emma-line.

CatteStreet · 17/08/2020 19:52

Emmuhleen, roughly equal stress on first and third syllables.

Really like it.

DramaAlpaca · 17/08/2020 22:32

Love it. The last syllable is -leen.

Littlepond · 17/08/2020 22:37

Love love love it. I’d say Emm-i-lean (Short i like in pin) and Emmi for short is so cute

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 17/08/2020 22:39

Gonna write your name high on that silver screen...
That's in my head now ,I like the name though.

BikeTyson · 17/08/2020 22:40

I like it! I know one, she’s Emmy for short. I pronounce it Emm-u-leen.

worriedmumofdd · 17/08/2020 22:48

Stunning ❤️

Mumtobe193 · 18/08/2020 01:56

Emma - leen is how I’d pronounce it. Love that name! DS was due around the time of international women’s day and if he’d have been a girl and born on that date that would definitely had been the name I’d gone for, after Emmeline Pankhurst obviously

MrsTerryPratchett · 18/08/2020 02:00

Hot Chocolate and Pankhurst, plus has a great short version. Great name.

I 'm keen on -leen but -line is fine Grin

stellarfox · 18/08/2020 02:01

Great I’m glad that nearly everyone would pronounce it the same way I would. We would use Emmy for short. Definitely a contender!

I would pronounce it Emma-line. It's a lovely name

Lou573 · 18/08/2020 03:48

A word of warning - she will spend her life saying ‘emmeLINE not Emily‘!

JanewaysBun · 18/08/2020 09:18

Emuhleen
Love it

bbee12 · 18/08/2020 15:16

Love it!

Just a random fact about the name, Emmeline Pankhurst helped organised the UK suffragettes, so if you like history even better!

I would pronounce it Emma-line or Emma-leen.

MikeUniformMike · 18/08/2020 15:44

@bbee12, every day's a school day.

Trashtara · 18/08/2020 20:10

I know two. One Emma-line, one Emma-leen.

Both pronunciations are lovely
