Opinions on Archer..

Following on from my last post I am loving the name Archer..

Would be Archer Frank - there is no budging on Frank as it was my grandads name.

Whats your opinions on Archer? I like that he could be known as Archie whilst a baby but has the option of a more 'formal' name when he is older?!

It's a nice name but think automatically of the cartoon Archer about a hard drinking sex addict rubbish spy with mummy issues. Funny cartoon, but maybe not baby name material when that's in your head.

123Dancewithme · 03/08/2020 16:11

I prefer just Archie.

MamaDane · 03/08/2020 16:12

Archer is nice. Much nicer than Archie as well

user1493494961 · 03/08/2020 18:51

It's a surname derived from being a bowman.

mediciempire · 03/08/2020 18:54

I like it with Archie as a cute nn

Starlight39 · 03/08/2020 18:59

I really like the name Archer - good shortened options (Arch/Archie) but also short enough to use in full at least some of the time. My DS has a bit of a marmite surname type name too! It was chosen by my ex originally and I liked it but probably wouldn’t have chosen it myself but it really suits him.

UsedUpUsername · 03/08/2020 19:03

I can only think of that cartoon Archer. Funny stuff, but not a great namesake iyswim

daisypond · 03/08/2020 19:03

I don’t mind Archer. I quite like it. It’s better than Archie any day.

the only thing that matters is whether you like it. If you like it and it suits DC then bugger everyone else!

But aren't people asking on here specifically because they care about and want to hear others' opinion?

People on here are often more honest than in real life.

@RunningAwaywiththeCircus

I completely agree! Thank you for your comments!
Where I live just ‘Archie’ is a perfectly acceptable name - not chavy, not common and not even very well heard old.

It’s an old man name here which suits all ages yet according to mumsnet it is the chaviest name going

Love Archer and Archie... agree with you about some posters being rude about certain names yet love really odd choices of names on other posts. Choose a name you love OP😘

Crankley · 04/08/2020 15:52

Archie is cute, really dislike Archer.

agree with you about some posters being rude about certain names yet love really odd choices of names on other posts.

I rarely see a rude comment; what I see are people's different opinions - that doesn't make them rude.

The bottom line on here is you don't want people's honest opinions which may be different from yours - don't ask.

Whats your opinions on Archer?

I really dislike it.

Fishfingersandwichplease · 04/08/2020 16:55

Think he would spend his life saying it's Archer not Archie.

Bubbletrouble43 · 04/08/2020 16:59

I love it. Thought about it for my twins ( apt as they are sagittarians) but they were both girls. Go for it op. I like Frank too.

I agree and 99.99% of people do.

bluemoon2468 · 04/08/2020 17:38

I really like it! Clearly in the minority 🙈

I think of the drink.

Coco784 · 04/08/2020 17:49

@bluemoon2468

I love Franklin - my husband sadly vetoed though as he said it would be shortened to Frank and he has bad experience of a Frank

@Fishfingersandwichplease I know a young Archer and can confirm he does spend a lot of time doing this.

I do still love the name though and the Archer I know (DS of a friend) gets many compliments on his name
