How popular is it really?

I've started to really like the name Ada and it was my great grandmas name so has family connections too. However I'm getting put off by how popular it seems to be becoming... so just wondering how many babies you know recently who have been called Ada?

My other favourite is Nina but at the moment I'm feeling drawn towards Ada for some reason!

I know one Ada who is 6. I think it’s a lovely name and prefer it to Nina x

I don't know any I don't think...

I know an Ida and at least one Ava, but no Adas.

It was on Peaky Blinders and has crept up in popularity ever since. There’s a new series coming so it could really blow up!

I don’t know any. I think it’s correct that Peaky Blinders has brought it back to life - it’s name that fits with late Victorian style that has been current for a while. I find it a bit bland but it’s fine, and I do prefer Nina.

I only know of one child called Ada, but I know of several called Ava which seems to be much more popular. I don't know any young Ninas, I think it's a great name though.

At the end of the day, you should choose a name because you love it. You could dismiss Ada because it seems popular and go for something more unusual and she could still end up being one of three in her school year group.

Yes there are two girls in my DC1’s class with the same name. The name is very rare, not within the Top 250 (I checked because I was bored and because I found it quite amusing) so I bet the parents were pretty surprised.
