Opinions? And please add to our short lists!!

DH and I are struggling to decide on names! Not finding out the sex so would like a short list of boys names and girls names to go to the hospital with 😊 Here is the list of names we both like so far. What are your thoughts? And please leave any other suggestions 😊 surname is a 3 syllable ‘M’ name.

Boys: Max & Charlie
Girls: Isabella, Poppy & Layla

I only like Layla. Beautiful and underused.

The others are very popular and might soon sound dated imo.

@Poppydaisies I love Layla too. Seen a few negative comments online about it being used when white British rather than Middle Eastern and wasn’t sure if that would be a common issue that people had with it 🤷🏻‍♀️ A nice name is a nice name to me lol, I’m not hugely fussy on origin!

@Onestepup Middle names are already sorted so will strictly be a first name off of those lists 😊 I adore Charlotte 😊 DH can’t stand it 🙄😂

Max for the boy. Charlie is babyish.
I like all your girl names. Isabella is nice but a little frilly and is a style that’s going out of fashion. Isabel is better. Poppy I like a lot. Layla is nice too. I generally prefer it as Leila.

Charlie was incredibly popular maybe ten or twelve years ago, so there are huge numbers of them about. I do find myself doing a bit of an internal eye-roll when I hear yet another Charlie being called by his mum. I’m afraid I am really not keen. I always think of it as an insult: he’s a right Charlie. Charles is fantastic though, and carries so much more weight.

I also think Delilah is beautiful but we are Scottish and after having thrown this name out there a few times in hypothetical baby name chats with friends/family there seems to be a huge problem with pronunciation which annoyed me 😂😂 Some say “Del-eye-lah” and some say “Del-iy-lah” 🙈
Imogen is also lovely but I know quite a few around here at the moment 😊
