NN for Alexander

Hi. We have recently found out that we are having a little boy and love the name Alexander. I already have a son, Benjamin and have always used his nn as Benji. We like traditional names with quirky nicknames. Any ideas please? So far I have Lex and Sandy (not Scottish but Scottish Grampy was called Sandy 😊). X

Xan

Ds ended up with Alexander as his middle name because dh & I couldn’t agree on a nn. I wanted Xander and he Lex, I’m sure others would have assumed Alex.

I just love Alex. It’s timeless and classless. I can’t bear Sandy or xander or even lex. Just too try hard

Sasha is lovely.

Sasha
Anders
Lex (Dutch origin male name for the pp who said it was a girl's name)

I like Ali and Alexi 😊

I think Alexander is a great name. Those that I know are Alex, Ali or Al. Lex sounds a bit like a girl's diminutive (Lexi from Alexandra), but I suppose that doesn't matter these days. Ali is nice. Then there's Xan....quite exotic.

Sandy is a lovely traditional short name for Alexander.

BeMorePacific · 24/07/2020 16:29

I love Sandy for a boy. Love Lex too. I also love Alex.. so I’m obviously a fan of the name! x

Jen435 · 24/07/2020 16:34

Lex I feel is a bit girly? I'd go Xander (pronounced Zander)

TinyMetalBirds · 24/07/2020 17:31

Lex Luther wasn’t noticeably girly...

BillyAndTheSillies · 24/07/2020 18:26

BIL is Xand or Xander. Which saved a bit of confusion because I'm an Alexandra and only go by Alex.

foxtiger · 24/07/2020 21:42

I like Alex a lot but for something a bit different I'd probably go for Xan.
