Now having 2nd thoughts on names for DD! Which would you choose - Nina or Emilia? DS is called Teddy.

I love Nina but also really like Emilia (possible nn Emmy) but don't want her having to correct people thinking its Amelia her whole life!

I prefer Emilia.

userabcname · 17/07/2020 11:47

Nina! Lovely name.

Emilia is lovely, not keen on Nina.

BabyLlamaZen · 17/07/2020 11:55

Go with your gut. You loved Nina first.

Spied · 17/07/2020 11:57

Nina
Also like Lena.

123Dancewithme · 17/07/2020 14:48

Nina, definitely. Emilia just blends in with all the Amelia, Emily, Emma, Evie, Ava names.

CakeRattleandRoll · 17/07/2020 15:44

Nina.

LilacSloth · 17/07/2020 18:52

I think Emilia is very pretty and sounds nice with Teddy. I'm not fond of Nina. What about Annabel or Caroline?

17caterpillars1mouse · 17/07/2020 18:57

Neither are my style but I'd go with Nina as there were 2 Emilia's, an Emily and an Emilyn in dds nursery class, so it seems overused

daisypond · 17/07/2020 19:32

Nina.

HarrietM87 · 17/07/2020 19:43

Nina. Emilia will get Amelia/Emily and it will be annoying. Nina is classic and beautiful.

Babs709 · 17/07/2020 19:45

Either name, both lovely 😊

I think Emilia Clark is fixing the spelling issue, not sure people would automatically go “Amelia” anymore.

Emelene · 17/07/2020 20:04

Nina is a gorgeous underused Classic.
The Amelia/Emilia thing would drive me mad!

HD98 · 18/07/2020 20:39

I do prefer Emilia and like Emmy as a nn. I just think it's prettier whilst Nina is a bit plain to me. Emilia/Amelia is quite common right now though so Nina would be the better choice if you don't want her to share a name with lots of others!

pinkpinecone · 18/07/2020 20:45

Much prefer Nina. It does sound very different from Teddy. Phoebe would be a better fit in style but I don't it matters that much, just go with the name you like.

Thanks everyone!

Its interesting a few people have said Nina doesn't go with Teddy... I wonder what sort of names do?

I have a Teddy (Edward) with a sister whose name is very similar to Nina (rhymes with it). It's never occurred to me that their names don't 'go together'. Confused

boo1507 · 19/07/2020 21:11

Nina for me. I like Emilia a lot though too.

Scottishflower · 19/07/2020 22:38

Personally Emilia is too popular for me but if you love it as a name definitely go for it. My choice of the two would be Nina, I think its really cute. X

Imissmoominmama · 19/07/2020 22:43

What about Nita- I think it fits with Teddy better than Nina.

ThunderR0ad78 · 19/07/2020 23:02

Emily, Emilia, Emmerline all go with Edward (Teddy) much better than Nina and I much prefer those names. They feel far more feminine and warm in comparison to Nina!

luckymagnoliatree · 19/07/2020 23:48

@Pineapple30 I have always thought Emilia is a lovely name & I think it goes well with Teddy.

If it helps I know a sibset with a Teddy (Edward on bc but they have always call him teddy), Imogen (Nn immy) and Scarlett (nn lettie). I think both those options are also lovely and go really well with Teddy 🙂 x

SoSpooky · 20/07/2020 08:50

I would go for Nina- in my opinion there are a lot of Amelias about at the moment and so any Emelia would spend their whole time correcting spelling of their name.

partofyoupoursoutofme · 20/07/2020 10:30

Nina is fab, and I think it goes well with Teddy!
