We already have an Ottilie and I just love the name Cecily, but are they too similar sounding? Thank you!

I love the names but call them out loud. You'll be calling them together a lot and they are quite hard to say one after the other or that could be just me.
However shortened otti cece. Much easier and likely to happen if it were me.

They do sound very similar but for some reason I love Ottilie but hate the harsh S sound in Cecily , plus the fact it sounds like "silly"

Pinkypink · 16/07/2020 20:03

I think they sound a bit twee and matchy together.
Love Ottilie btw

Agree with twee and matchy, although I do know sisters called Ella, Isla and Ailsa.

I like Cecily a lot. But it’s too similar in sound at the end to Ottilie.

Why not just have Cecilia or Celia?

Onestepup · 17/07/2020 20:34

I think they're too similar, but love the idea of Cecilia.

Enderline · 17/07/2020 22:23

I much prefer Cecily over Cecilia, but I agree that Cecilia would work better in this instance.

DramaAlpaca · 17/07/2020 22:26

I think they are fine together actually. Yes, the endings are similar but the first part of the names are so different that I don't think it matters.
