Glamorous names

Looking for more suggestions for names I can only describe as quite glamours, simply because of associations though: think Mae West, Vivien Leigh, Audrey Hepburn, Deanna Durbin, Greta Garbo... I just love love LOVE!

Can't find the one that my husband loves too though, so hoping you can help. We love something quite strong sounding, not too feminine sounding and smart.

Damaris rhymes with glamorous. Would that do?

longcoffeebreak · 15/07/2020 23:07

How about Gilda

Bouncingbelle · 15/07/2020 23:18

Natalia or Natasha.

I think Deborah & Caroline are both strong sounding names without being cutesy.

Orphlids · 15/07/2020 23:20

Oh wow, Gilda is great!

LilacSloth · 16/07/2020 10:46

Veronica (Lake)?
Grace/Kelly

Standrewsschool · 16/07/2020 12:07

Dulcima

Spied · 16/07/2020 12:12

I love Grace and Coco. Think both sound glamorous although I don't necessarily think it means your DD would grow up to be glamorousConfused

I always though Scarlett Johasson was a glamorous sounding name

Danniiaddy · 16/07/2020 13:29

I like Lorelei - nn Lori

flooredbored · 16/07/2020 14:29

My dad had a thing about naming me and my sister after screen sirens.

m.imdb.com/list/ls020590713/

This imdb list us pretty comprehensive, and goid for browsing. My names are on there!

TinkersRucksack · 16/07/2020 14:35

Calypso. If I had a daughter that's what I'd call her.

Destroyedpeople · 16/07/2020 14:39

Ooh I do like Calypso. ...

Marlena
Ramona
Roxana
Tallulah
Diana

villainousbroodmare · 16/07/2020 14:44

Gloria
Stella

Toilenstripes · 16/07/2020 14:44

This could massively backfire if your daughter gets named Calypso or Gilda when she’s clearly headed for a life in academia studying amoeba in the North Pole.

WellTidy · 16/07/2020 14:52

Athena
Angelica
Virginia
Josephine

Destroyedpeople · 16/07/2020 14:54

Destroyedpeople · 16/07/2020 14:55

Artemis

Roselilly36 · 16/07/2020 14:58

Ophelia

SuperStay7 · 16/07/2020 15:01

I’ve always thought Valentina is a very ‘glamorous’ name.

Also:

Diana
Sophia (although it’s very popular)

And I used to think Ghislaine 😬

MikeUniformMike · 16/07/2020 16:19

I think they're glamorous because of who they're associated with.
This.

Joan (Collins)
Grace (Kelly)
Marilyn (Monroe)
Ava (Gardner)
Elizabeth (Taylor)
Vivien (Leigh)
Jean (Harlowe)
Barbara (Stanwyck)
Carole (Lombard)
Debbie (Reynolds)

They are granny names apart from Ava, which I dislike, and Grace.

MikeUniformMike · 16/07/2020 16:23

How about:
Hedy (Lamarr) or Loretta (Young) or Veronica (Lake).

AragornsManlyStubble · 16/07/2020 20:10

Zsa Zsa always seemed glamorous to me as a child after I came across it as the name of a poodle in my ‘Puppy in my Pocket’ collection. Grin
