We have nrrn speaking about this for months and just can't agree. I think we have finally decided on a girls' name but that took a long time too!

My suggestions have been...
Rafferty
Otis
Ralph
Noah
Elijah

He likes...
Freddie
Bobbie
Patrick
Rex
George

Any ideas on something we might agree on?!

Isaac?

Maybe the long form of some of his chosen names - Frederick or Robert?

Thomas
Joseph
Rupert (??)
Lucas
Owen
Leo

It's tricky because to me the names within each list seem very different.

Wecandothis99 · 14/07/2020 06:31

If he likes Patrick I don't think he can be helped. Hehe just kidding.

You've very different tastes so maybe something like Maxwell which is cool in full and classic when reduced to Max?

NatalieH2220 · 14/07/2020 06:35

There is an app called Kinder where you can both rate baby names and it will then show you your matched list at the end.

Yorkshirelass251 · 14/07/2020 06:37

Thank you! @wecandothis99 Grin I agree, the names within each list are very different and I don't think either of us has a preferred style (although mine are the more unusual). We don't even have any possibles so far!

I also like Sidney.

Freddie and Bobbie are diminutives. Frederick and Robert are nice.

Just go for something ordinary, your son will thank you for that later as nobody will take the mick out of his name.

Sean is nice.

I like Rafferty and Otis. How about
Dominic
Quentin
Marcus

You've got some great names on your lists @Yorkshirelass251 - I love Sidney and Otis in particular. Maybe your husband might come round to those names once he gets used to them. Also once he realises that they aren't as "out there" as he might have originally thought. He's probably picturing a child called Sidney in a school in the 1980s surrounded by Dave and Nicks. Instead names like Albert and Hunter and Albie are all top 100 now.

Danniiaddy · 14/07/2020 22:33

I have to say I prefer your list to your hubby’s!
Maybe you could find another name to agree on?

Rory George?
Alexander (instead of Rex)?

Good luck!

missingmyholidays · 14/07/2020 22:48

Ellis
Magnus
Zac/Zachary
Hugh or Hugo
Finlay

Rex is definitely a dog or a dinosaur, not a baby!
