Opinions on these twin names

Me and my partner have recently found out we are having boy girl twins I have my heart set on these names but my partner and parents think they are too out there Please help.
Girl - Scarlett Evora
Boy- Roman Lorenzo
We are near enough set on the first names but the middle names are becoming a massive debate. I’m part Italian so that’s why I fell in love with Lorenzo and I’ve never heard an Evora and thought it was a nicer spin of Aurora
Opinions please and any other options for middle names we might like. Thanks all

Perfectly fine names IMO. Nothing special about them but also nothing bad about hem.

babynamelover · 13/07/2020 01:27

They sound lovely together as siblings and first and middles. Sometimes it's easier to announce names at birth rather than everyone having their two cents before. Ultimately it's you and your partners decision go with what you love especially if it has a spelling meaning.

babynamelover · 13/07/2020 01:28

*special meaning.

Prettylittlelady · 13/07/2020 06:51

They sound really nice together but I’ve never been keen on Scarlett because as a teacher while it is a beautiful name I’ve heard it shortened to scar which sounds very harsh to my ears!

newphoneswhodis · 13/07/2020 07:01

Scarlett is nice. Is Evora a name? I know ivora? Hate made up names but can't get too worked up about middle names.
I like Lorenzo.
I hate Roman. Sounds like you're naming a gladiator. Sorry.

4amWitchingHour · 13/07/2020 07:17

Ignore what your parents think, you and your partner both need to be happy though.

My personal opinion? The only one of your names I like is Lorenzo, although only as a middle name, but I'm just a stranger on the internet

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 13/07/2020 07:26

Scarlet & Lorenzo

TildaTurnip · 13/07/2020 07:30

They’re fine except Roman which is more of a word rather than a name for me.

Whatsyourflava · 13/07/2020 07:32

Your partner thinks they're "too out there"?! 🤣 you need to tell him Roman was last years fastest rising boy name. It's leaped over 600 places in the past decade or so and is now top 50 in the charts but will be top 10/20 by the time the 2020 statistics come out on current trajectory. It's the new Noah/Theo. So one to definitely avoid if popularity is a concern to you. The name is very similar to other fast rising names (RoWan, RoHan, Ronnie, Reuben etc etc). So rather than sounding out there/a bit unusual, the name RoMan now sounds very run of the mill these days, very very trendy though so is likely to date.
Scarlett is nice. Definitely not out there either

Whatsyourflava · 13/07/2020 07:35

There's 2 baby Roman's in my NCT group of 8 babies. Wasn't surprised when I read it was the fastest rising name

sweetnosugar · 13/07/2020 08:49

I think they are both lovely! Nothing wrong with them at all.

When choosing baby names families are the worst for making you doubt your choices, I know first hand. Ignore them, sounds mean but it’s your baby(s) not theirs.

Flymetothestars · 13/07/2020 11:38

Congratulations on boy girl twins - how wonderful

Scarlett is a nice name and popularity wise it's numbers have been falling each and every year since 2013 when it's numbers peaked. So a great choice I'd say!

Roman however is booming. The name was almost unheard of until a couple of years ago. I meet a lot of newborns in my line of work and there is a huge number of Romans being born and also many very similar names which make it sound even more ubiquitous than it already is. Extremely trendy names having a moment.
Description above of Roman (with an M) being the next Noah/Theo is accurate.
But if popularity doesn't bother you then ignore this as irrelevant!
Sound-wise RoMan isn't one of my favourite names but it's not awful

Middle names seem like great choices with meaning to you.

MikeUniformMike · 13/07/2020 13:16

Not keen on Roman at all but I like Lorenzo very much.

Ughmaybenot · 13/07/2020 13:18

Perfectly nice names and I like that you’ve a nod to your heritage too.
Roman is getting very popular now, so definitely not ‘out there’ and Scarlett has been common for a while.

BabyLlamaZen · 13/07/2020 13:42

I also prefer lorenzo to Roman

TinyTear · 13/07/2020 14:33

I hope you realise Evora is a town in Portugal

Spied · 13/07/2020 14:36

I'd scrap Evora for Valentina.
So
Scarlett Valentina and Roman Lorenzo

totallyyesno · 13/07/2020 14:41

I have never heard of Evora - is it a family name?

Flymetothestars · 13/07/2020 14:41

Yes I'd also suggest swopping your boy name round

Lorenzo Roman

Loads better! Lovely.

MikeUniformMike · 13/07/2020 15:26

Enzo on it's own or short for Lorenzo is nice.
Roman makes me think of Polanski.

WTFisthisabout · 13/07/2020 15:32

@WTFisthisabout true Grin

But the Roman temple is more well known

I'm really sorry but I don't like any of the names, particularly scarlett. The one I like most out of the options is lorenzo, but if you like them, that's all that matters 😊
