Girls names - need some inspiration!

DH and I are currently debating which girls name to use for our DD. We both really like Robin but our surname is Rogers, and Robin Rogers is a bit of a bugger of a name. Other ones we like are Jennifer (like Jen and Jenny as shortened versions) and Laura.

Any inspiration would be welcome! we are not keen on anything too nuts but don't want something really common.

Gemma! It's not "out there" but is very uncommon these days and it shortens to Gem, which is lovely.

Imogen nn Ginny Rogers?

Baggingarea · 11/07/2020 16:11

They always say successful people tend to have alliterate names!

Nachonacho · 11/07/2020 16:13

Love the name Robin Rogers!

I like Laura but Laura Rogers is a bit of a mouthful and makes me think of the word lodgers.

Jillian Rogers

MikeUniformMike · 11/07/2020 20:33

Someone has posted the name of someone I know, and it's nice.

Laura Rogers has too many Rs, as does Robin Rogers.

Jillian is horrible but Jill is lovely.

Thanks everyone! Some great suggestions here. I agree Laura Rogers is too much of a mouthful.

What do people think of Megan? DH likes it, I don't hate it. Lana was another of our favourites but after reading another thread on here that's out (backwards spelling).

I like Megan.

Baggingarea · 12/07/2020 10:13

Lol re Lana! Grin

I like Megan! Great for nicknames too - meg, Meggie, mags etc. If you both agree on it that's the important thing.

Also just thinking about it, Robin could be the stuff of playground taunts (ie "Rob n Rogers").

Happenchance · 12/07/2020 18:30

I'm not a fan of Megan. I would avoid any “olly” names (Molly, Holly etc.) because of the similarity to Jolly Roger.

Alana/Alanna is nice and won't make you blush if spelled backwards. Siân and Simone also go quite well with Rogers.

123Dancewithme · 12/07/2020 18:54

I think Robyn Rogers (would use the y spelling for a girl) sounds good! But I like alliterative names.

I also love Jennifer/Jenny
