Could I ask your thoughts on Jonah?

Or for names similar that aren't too popular or tooooo biblical.

I like most biblical names but you know the OTT biblical sounding ones I mean, I'm sure 😂

You'd be surprised how many people have no idea of the biblical story. Mine's the only one in his school - in fact the only other Jonah we have ever met was a fellow toddler in Australia.
We chose it because it was uncommon but not weird.

My sons called jonah . Gets lots of compliments on it and it’s quite unique.

Bear in mind it rhymes with lots words you wouldn’t want your child being called (stoner, moaner, loner, boner) and children can be cruel.

I couldn't choose this name as it has come to mean 'one who brings bad luck to a voyage or enterprise '.
And no offence but a name can't be 'quite unique'. It's either unique or its not. And it's not.

sweetnosugar · 11/07/2020 09:09

I like Eli and Reuben. ☺️

@jamdonut Interesting to know what his older brothers names Are? I found out my 4th baby is a boy and we’ve decided on Jonah. He has 3 older brothers with biblical names also x

GreyhoundG1rl · 04/09/2021 15:38

I like it.

BiBabbles · 04/09/2021 16:15

I think it's nice.

I think an issue with boys' Biblical names though is that most of the 'not too Biblical ones' have been well used and while they goes in cycles, it's harder to find ones that haven't had their popular moments.

Other currently less used Bibical names: Malachi, Micah, Reuel, Zaccai/Zakkai.

Givemethatknife · 04/09/2021 23:02

I like it, also really like Jerome

Cbeebiesrehab · 04/09/2021 23:08

Might be having a bit of a moment as I know two born recently. I like it though.

The fact that Jonah means 'unlucky' puts me off.

Don't use it if you're a sea-faring family!

peanutnest · 05/09/2021 08:49

I love biblical boys names, my son has one and there were several on the shortlist - Thomas, Zachary (from Zechariah), Amos, Antony.

Jonah is such a nice name Smile

spartanthehorse · 05/09/2021 14:55

One of my favourite boy's names. I think the meaning, dove, and the sound is so lovely.

PissPotPourri · 05/09/2021 14:59
