Middle name for Marshall

Does anyone have any suggestions for a middle name that works well with Marshall? It's definitely a name I'm very strongly considering for baby boy due early Decembet but have no middle name pairings. We aren't doing family names. Looking for something sophisticated, masculine yet maybe a bit soft if that makes sense. Suggestions I've liked have been Marshall Austin, Marshall Julian and Marshall Dane. Anything else coming to mind? Thank you in advance!

Does anyone watch Thomas the Tank nowadays?

Yes! Loads of people!

Buffyanne · 08/07/2020 16:04

But I think the point was just because a name is on a child show doesn't mean it leads to ridicule. I knew a lot of kids named Thomas and never heard that association! But it is good to be aware of!

I agree, a short or classic middle name is preferred! I like Marshall Adam but I know an Adam and it would be weird! But something similar maybe?

I think if Paw Patrol is still relevant in a few years, kids will be drawn to your little boy! I know my son would be all over that association.

Marshall Thomas
Marshall James
Marshall Alexander
Marshall Jude
Marshall Henry

I think it's fine to have a name from a kids tv show. Loads of boys are called Tom (Thomas), Henry and lots of girls have names like Jasmine and Aurora

I have teenagers and they listen to Eminem even though his hey day was 10+ years before their time. As long as you avoid Mathers I think you're fine with that association.

Marshall Paul
Marshall John
Marshall Peter
Marshall David
Marshall Jude
Marshall George

Yes! Loads of people!

Sorry to derail (no pun intended) the thread, but I'm glad to hear the Troublesome Trucks are still going strong! How's Salty? Annie? Clarabel? Grin

@TheVanguardSix

Still telling stories and still moaning respectively! Grin

Thomas the Tank Engine has been going since 1945. He was hardly going to disappear in the last ten years.

I've got a son called Marshall and still love his name 🥰
Marshall Alexander

Never heard of Paw Patrol?! This must be your first child...

Rest assured you will be hearing about them a LOT

Re: the name, I’ve always liked it. I think it’s a really cool name.

American-y name ideas:

Marshall Dylan
Marshall Declan
Marshall Zane
Marshall Walker
Marshall Blair/Blaine
Marshall Jacob
Marshall Devon

My DS is Marshall, he is 2.5 and only ever had it mentioned his names off paw patrol by 2 kids.
A few people have commented that they know someone aged 90+ with that name.
We love his name, goes well with his surname that starts with M to.
His middle name is Nicholas, which js a special name to us.

A few people have made jokes about Eminem but thats our fault as we didnt realise his initials were M N M but we dont care and he suits his name.

cptartapp · 08/07/2020 20:17

Marshall Cole

Buffyanne · 08/07/2020 20:18

This is my first child! I've heard of Paw Patrol but have never watched it or known the character's names. I just have learned this list of names. We are dog lovers though so it looks really cute! I read Marshall is a protagonist so I think the name is fine to use then.

I guess I do like American-y names (which makes sense as I have never lived anywhere else). I'm liking:

Marshall Dylan
Marshall Declan
Marshall Austin
Marshall Devon
Marshall Dane
Marshall Jack

Marshall Alexander is stunning but we have a clunky Norwegian last name so trying to keep the middle name short.

What do you think about Marshall Ander or Marshall Anders? I'm not a big fan of andrew but I also like Marshall Drew. I like all the pieces if Andrew I guess but not together!

I also just thought about Marshall Xander which is kinda nice!

I also like Marshall Zachary.

Marshall is the funny one in paw patrol.

Marshall Dylan

Buffyanne · 08/07/2020 20:25

I love meeting others who used the name! I like that it has a vintage and modern feel at the same time. We aren't doing family names directly but my dad was Martin and husband's dad is Al so I feel like it combines their names in a subtle way (kind of).

Marshall is sweet and klutzy in PP.

I LOVE Anders. Brilliant name.

Keith

Buffyanne · 08/07/2020 20:36

My husband loves the name Keith. I vetoed it but maybe as a middle name!

Marshall Amp would be great with a clunky Norweign surname.
Certainly no more ridiculous than using the name of a county, a car or a breed of dog!
