Hi, I’m needing some help.
I have a daughter who is called Grace and a Son called Jude. I have found out I’m having another Girl. We decided on the name Erin weeks ago.
But then partners sister found out she was pregnant and has now chosen the same name and won’t change even though she is only 8 weeks pregnant.
We did like the name Edith too but I’m just wondering what are people’s thoughts on which name goes better with Grace and Jude.
Erin or Edith?
Or something completely different.
Thank you

If she is only 8 weeks pregnant she wont know the gender of baby and she may have a boy or change her mind on name by then anyway. Stick with the name you like and don't discuss names with anyone!

SquigglePigs · 29/06/2020 21:04

I think both work with the sibling names.

Thank you for your reply vintagegirl89. I didn't tell her the name we had until she mentioned she had Erin as her girl name. She has the name for a boy and a girl for when she finds out. But I don't want to cause any family drama if her baby is a girl and I name my baby Erin. But because she has told everyone her names at 8 weeks. People are going to think we copied her name as no one else knows ours. Baby names cause so much family stress :/

I actually think Edith goes better with Grace and Jude, love Edith and shortened version Edie.

Romilly

BlueJeanBabeh · 29/06/2020 21:10

Both lovely names. What about Eve? Lois? Elin (too close to Erin maybe?), Gwen?

mylittleavalon · 29/06/2020 21:30

Prefer Erin to Edith, but as vintagegirl said she doesn't know what she is having yet. Other names you might like: Fern, Darcy, Elspeth, Helen, Iris, Lois, Sian, Nieve

Curlysusie · 29/06/2020 21:32

Love Edith/edie also Olivia/olive go nicely with grace x

Edith goes better.
Esther or Hester are even better, if you like those.

strandedatthedrivein · 29/06/2020 21:39

Carrie first sprang to mind to go with your other DC.

Elodie? It's seems quite popular this year.

Iris was on my list but my partner ruled it out. I never thought of Elspeth. That's quite different. Thank you.

Edith goes better.

Whatsyourflava · 30/06/2020 10:20

Edith and Erin are both gorgeous names but I prefer Edith and think it goes perfectly with sibling names

Whatsyourflava · 30/06/2020 10:21

Eliza?

Whatsyourflava · 30/06/2020 10:21

Emmy?

Mish85 · 30/06/2020 13:39

I much prefer Edith. It's a lovely name.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 30/06/2020 13:42

You go with the name you prefer and screw the sil. If anyone asks you tell them no you've had that name picked out for weeks. I wouldn't be giving up the name I chose for my baby because someone else in the family, due after me decided they want that name too.

Spied · 30/06/2020 13:45

Love Erin.
Eva?

Nellydean21 · 30/06/2020 13:49

Grace, Jude and Hazel
Grace, Jude and Caroline
Grace, Jude and Genevieve

Chilldonaldchill · 11/11/2020 22:59

Edith is gorgeous.
I'm not a fan of Erin to be honest.
I love the previous suggestion of Elspeth too.

UnicornPug · 13/11/2020 12:56

We almost used Eris, which I loved. It was too ‘ssss-y’ with our middle and surname though- think Eris Mavis Bestly. I was convinced she’d have a lisp if we called her that. It’s a gorgeous name though and fits with Grace and Jude. Means goddess of destruction which would have been apt for my dd.Grin

DepuisToujours · 13/11/2020 13:51

Edith is much nicer than Erin imo. Erin is nice enough, but Edith is more elegant and goes better with Grace and Jude.

Erin's siblings are names like Holly, Amy, Oliver, Ryan, (I know this is nonsense btw and siblings don't have to match each other etc etc, but in my mind these names have a similar feel)!
