Our baby girl is due in a few weeks and we can't decide on a name. Would really appreciate opinions on the only two we like so far:

Arla
Kaia

DH and I like unique, uncommon names. Any other suggestions welcome.

I like the sound of Arla, but it’s a dairy company so puts me off it for a little girls name.

emilybrontescorsett · 28/06/2020 10:29

Arla.

Mischance · 28/06/2020 10:31

Neither

whichteaareyou · 28/06/2020 10:31

100% arla it's lovely! I've never heard it as a dairy brand before!

pinkpinecone · 28/06/2020 10:32

I prefer Kaia

Arla is nice buts it's the name of a margarine

pinkpinecone · 28/06/2020 10:33

This is the one www.arlafoods.co.uk/brands/lactofree/spreads/

20viona · 28/06/2020 10:34

Love Arla.

Peregrina · 28/06/2020 10:34

How about Kezia - similar to Kaia?

RufusandCasserole · 28/06/2020 10:36

Thanks @sweetnosugar and @pinkpinecone, I'm sure I've heard of Arla the dairy company but had completely forgotten about it!

Love Kaia and Kezia.

Arla will always be a dairy for me

(Plus it was altered first to Arco and then to area when I was typing this)

20viona · 28/06/2020 10:45

Also Arna is nice.

RufusandCasserole · 28/06/2020 10:47

@Nonestopcaberet thank you, I'm really glad I asked as I hasn't made the association at all.

Aria? Orla?

RufusandCasserole · 28/06/2020 11:06

@SauvignonBlanketyBlank

Aria? Orla?
Thank you - I love Aria but feel it's become really popular in the last few years. Not as keen on Orla.

I really like Kaia! Arla less so, how about Alana? Amaya? Orla?

Arla is too associated with the dairy / butter brand for me and I can't help but sound a little piratey when I say it, sorry!

RufusandCasserole · 28/06/2020 11:17

@ArchbishopOfBanterbury haha, thanks for the honest opinion - this is why I love mumsnet! I like Alana out of those but DH isn't keen Sad
