Alternative to Adelaide

I love the name Adelaide but my husband doesn't - it's too closely linked to the place for him.

We both like Adeline... but I can't get over the fact that it sounds like "add a line". Am I being silly?

Any ideas on alternatives to these?

I know one Adeline and it was pronounced Add -uh- leen. Like Evangeline.

You could always spell it Adelene.

My name is Adele always wanted the option to have a longer version I much prefer Adeline or Adelyn.

I would pronounce Adeline as Add-uh-leen too.

Just wanted to say that I've worked with someone called Adeline for 14 years and until just now, I had never once associated it with "add a line" 😊

I think I missed Her Majesty Queen Manchester and Her Majesty Queen Brighton who wouid have had to inspire the name of the place, if those were to be the right parallel for Adelaide, named for the Queen, wife of William IV. Queen Victoria being more important as regnant not consort, scored a whole state.

@speakout I'm not sure if you're being serious but Adelaide the city was named after Queen Adelaide, and the name Adelaide comes from the German name Adelheid meaning nobility.

Yes agree with the previous posters. Adelaide isn't actually a place name. The place is named after a person! Having said that, my DH thinks it's too closely associated with the place, which is fair enough.

Adeline is growing on me following the positive comments. I love it when pronounced Ad-el-ine, but I do worry about people saying "ad-a-line" all the time and annoying me.
