What do you think of these names we are considering for DC2? Please no 'it's a dog's/cat's/guinea pig's name' comments - just what do you think of these names for a human child :)

Girls (middle name would be Penelope after DH's late mum):

I like all of your girls names except Tabitha. it's a bit of a mouthful and doesn't shorten well. I think at least 2 maybe 3 of your names were on my shortlist too.
Sylvia is nice, have you also considered Sylvie?
Boys names (I did have a guinea pig with one of these names but that's because I liked the name). I'm not sure about Griffin, but really like Silas/Seth and Otto.

Felix.

Cordelia and Griffin are a bit much for me, and Sylvia is too “aunt Sylvia”, but I like the others.

Lovely names overall. In order of my preference:

Hazel - gorgeous name, have always loved it
Beatrix - another fave
Sylvia - not exactly my style but I like it, has a smooth, retro quality
Tabitha - meh
Iris - meh
Cordelia- can never understand the MN love for this one, it's just so flouncy!

Silas - love this
Seth - very stylish, nice
Felix - nice but boring, probably just because I know too many of them!
Otto - I would like this, if only I could pronounce it (NA accent, can't do Ts in the middle of words!)
Griffin - bit much

Sylvia is one that I thought of for my DC 🥰

We clearly have the same taste in names, my baby daughter was either going to be Iris or Hazel (she's Iris) or Felix if she had been a boy!

What I need to point out is that although Iris is a lovely name and we get lots of compliments on it, the timing of her birth has meant that my other children keep calling her Iris the Virus...

I like all your girls' names aside from Hazel, though I think Cordelia has sad associations, and I prefer Beatrice to Beatrix as it has a softer sound and also less likely to get Trixie as a NN.
Sylvia would be my first choice.

I like Felix a lot, and think it goes well with Timothy. Not too keen on the rest of the male names, and Griffin is my least favourite, it's too GOT for me.

You’ve quite vehemently described 3 of the names as horrible

I absolutely love Beatrix, Tabitha, Cordelia and Sylvia OP, although I think Beatrix works best with Penelope. Iris is OK and has a nice meaning, not hugely keen on Hazel.

I’m not a huge fan of any of your boys names except Otto which I do like (and Timothy!), if I were to rank them in order of preference it would be;

Griffin

I dislike Sylvia and Griffin. The others are nice. In order of preference:

I like all of your girls names, especially Iris, Hazel and Sylvia.

Only really like Felix from the boys, but that’s one of my favourites, it’s lovely.

Beatrix - lovely. I do think a lot of people would assume it's Beatrice though. I slightly prefer Beatrice.
Cordelia - gorgeous
Tabitha - gorgeous
Iris - lovely, quite popular
Hazel - not keen at all, mainly because she's an annoying character in a book series I love.
Sylvia - not keen, I prefer Sylvie. Sylvia reminds me of stuffy old person!

Cordelia or Tabitha are stunning, Iris is also great.
