Would you use names that gave the initials KJB?

Hi!

Settled for a boy's name, and set on a first name for a girl. First initial will definitely be K, and surname starts with B. I like Julia more than any other middle name I can think of, but I'm worried that KJB sounds too much like KGB, which obviously isn't an association I'd like for my baby!

Opinions please!

I think you're overthinking it, OP.

My maiden initials were HRT, can't say it has ever been an issue at any point my life. Does anyone ever care about initials?

youwereagoodcakeclyde · 12/06/2020 16:32

I'd really not let this affect your name choices. Middle names are used so little and initials are always firstname lastname in school and work as far as I can tell.
It doesn't even spell KGB.

TheThingWithFeathers · 12/06/2020 16:33

Absolutely fine. Even if the initials were KGB it would still be fine!

Lima45 · 12/06/2020 16:34

My SIL is KJB. No one ever commented on it. I think you're overthinking this a bit.

MrsBromeliad · 12/06/2020 16:37

OOOOH am I really just overthinking it? That's fab news if so, because I absolutely love Julia, and think it goes beautifully with the other names!

Thank you all, will re-pitch it to DH!

i only looked at this as i had no idea what k.j.b. stood for, thought it might be an american serial killer.
how long since kgb disappeared, ?30 yrs, who even thinks of that now.
few younger people will have even heard of the kgb, unless they read old spy novels.
and anyway i don't see any obvious jump from kjb to kgb.
even if she goes on to work in MI6, no problem at all.

Pearlygreens · 12/06/2020 16:57

I was hoping KJB stood for something rude and I'd find out a new fact.

I'm disappointed.

SeasonFinale · 12/06/2020 17:01

I don't believe the initials are a problem in this case but to the PP who said initials wont matter in many professional jobs the initials form part of a reference for case matter numbers and many memos and internal emails are addressed by initials.

daisypond · 12/06/2020 17:02

Completely fine.

Elieza · 12/06/2020 17:03

Go for it. Nobody will even notice the slight similarity. Smile

jomaIone · 12/06/2020 17:05

I barely know my best friends full initials so I don't know who you're worried will even see them written like this? Also had to Google what KGB even was...

Also her initials are even KGB...

Brucie0Bonus · 12/06/2020 17:09

Those are my daughters initials Smile
Never had anyone commenting on it

MinorArcana · 12/06/2020 17:11

You’re overthinking it OP.

I couldn’t imagine what the problem might be from looking at your thread title. It’s not an obvious association.

MinorArcana · 12/06/2020 17:14

Although I don’t think initials, in general, are a silly thing to worry about.

I’ve worked in places where it was standard practice to use employees initials, including middle name initials, in work documents.

FelicityPike · 12/06/2020 17:15

Yeah of course.

isabellerossignol · 12/06/2020 17:17

I think the only set up initials I'd try to avoid would be ones that spell out a swearword or something. Other than that, I think anything goes.

longtimecomin · 12/06/2020 17:24

It's fine op, there's a lot worse out there

flamingochill · 12/06/2020 17:30

My sister is CJB and I am CGB and both never had that problem.

mam0918 · 12/06/2020 20:01

We deliberately avoided the initals BJ and I would probably avoid things like STD etc... but unless its super obvious and a bad conotation I wouldnt care so KJB would be fine

StayClosePooky · 20/06/2020 14:13

I'm a KJB and has never affected me if that helps

QuantamBaby · 20/06/2020 14:33

Overthinking it! KJB is fine...

MikeUniformMike · 20/06/2020 14:58

Use Giulia as a mn.

Namechangex10000 · 20/06/2020 15:01

Don’t know what kgb/kJb is 😬

DramaAlpaca · 20/06/2020 15:03

It's not an issue. Julia is such a beautiful name.

pinkpinecone · 20/06/2020 16:00

You are 100% over thinking it dong worry those initials are fine
