I love the way Ariadne looks but do not like the pronunciation. I am looking for an odd A name for a girl such as Ariadne but no luck yet.

Antigone is an ancient Greek tragedy play by sophocles. I think she has to defend her brother.

FrankiesKnuckle · 12/06/2020 03:33

@Serintyjo Greek tragedy play. I like the name though, not brave enough to use it myself but!

Destroyedpeople · 12/06/2020 03:34

Serintyjo · 12/06/2020 03:36

Aroha - Māori, meaning love. Though the correct version might be Te Aroha (not sure) You'd be in very good company - Te Aroha is the middle name of Jacinda Ardern's daughter 🙂

I know it's from the Borrowers, but it's a nice name! Pronounced like Arry-et-ee. If that makes sense?

inappropriateraspberry · 12/06/2020 08:11

Wendy was also an invented name for a book, as I'm sure many more were originally!

florascotia2 · 12/06/2020 08:53

OP for Aude, it begins like 'Audrey' then ends with a schwa sound : 'uh' or 'eh'. You can listen here: forvo.com/search/Aude/

Atlanta was a typo, alas. I meant to write Atalanata. She was an ancient Greek heroine: www.theoi.com/Heroine/Atalanta.html
