Elodie or Emilia?

Elodie or Emilia?

Only 11 weeks to decide on a name for our little girl!

She is little sister to Oliver and her middle name will be Rose.

If anyone has any other suggestions feel free to share Smile

I would choose Elodie out of those two. Emilia is a nice name but very popular, even more so if you include all the similar sounding names like Amelia, Amelie etc...

Bexy1393 · 09/06/2020 10:11

@SunbathingDragon thanks for your response Smile

That is one of my worries with the name Emilia. It is very popular and a lot of people may assume it is Amelia with an A and she may have to correct them!

I have never met another Elodie...

I like both names! Even if Amelia is popular, I don't think that should put you off Emelia if you like it.

I also really like Emillie and Eloise (my DD's name Smile)

Emilia Rose is a beautiful name. Not so keen on Elodie but it's ok, doesn't flow as well with Rose, I think it's the double o sound.

pinkpinecone · 09/06/2020 10:26

Elodie Rose is lovely

There are so many Amelias and Emilias nowadays and it may get shortened to Millie

sweetnosugar · 09/06/2020 10:31

Elodie, it’s beautiful!

3LittleMonkeyz · 09/06/2020 10:31

If I had another little girl she would either be Elodie, Leonie, Orla or Iona with the middle name Rose. I'm not going to be having any more babies though, so Elodie Smile

SnowdropFox · 09/06/2020 10:34

Eloise Rose is beautiful. Emilia would be lost in a sea of Amilias etc as pps have mentioned.

BeMorePacific · 09/06/2020 10:36

I love Emilia. xx

Hatscats · 09/06/2020 11:16

Elodie

LotusClover · 09/06/2020 11:33

Elodie Rose is lovely. It's much nicer than Emilia which will definitely get mistaken for Amelia. There's nothing you can mistake Elodie for.

elfran · 09/06/2020 11:59

I prefer Elodie as a name (the risk of Emilia "getting lost" among all the similar names is a factor), but I'm not sure it goes great with Oliver, the beginning sounds so similar. Does he ever get Ollie? Because a little Elodie might get nicknamed Ellie by friends, and Ollie and Ellie is a bit matchy! Just something to think about.

DramaAlpaca · 09/06/2020 12:01

I'd choose Elodie.

IndiaMay · 09/06/2020 12:02

Elodie for sure. I know an Amelie Rose and an Amelia Rose already. I also know an Emilia. It's just so overdone

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 09/06/2020 12:03

Emilia

LilyMarshall · 09/06/2020 12:05

Id chose elodie out of those two purely for the Popularity emilia.

But i dont like the sound of elodie. I knew a few little elodies.

There's nothing you can mistake Elodie for.
Did you say Melody?

mrs87 · 09/06/2020 12:32

Elodie definitely! So different and Elodie Rose is lovely. Go for it!

Treaclepie19 · 09/06/2020 13:08

I love Elodie, think it will be a middle name for our little one 😊

bridgetreilly · 09/06/2020 13:12

I don't like Elodie at all, so I would say Emilia.

CMMum88 · 09/06/2020 13:14

Emilia

missmouse101 · 09/06/2020 13:19

Eh-mealy-uh is a very ugly sound. Elodie is better, but always makes me think of the letters L.O.D. Are you very sure about Rose as a middle name? It is every other girl's middle name and is so boring. I actually gave it to my own daughter 19 years ago and I completely regret it and she loathes it!

MikeUniformMike · 09/06/2020 13:22

I'm not keen on Elodie and Emilia and similar names are very popular.
Just more samey E- names, but it is not my baby and not my decision.

becca3210 · 09/06/2020 13:29

Elodie is nice though prefer Eleni (Greek origin) which is similar.

Kokeshi123 · 09/06/2020 14:20

Elodie is becoming more popular. I am hearing it a lot on this board recently and I think a lot of people will be using this year it as an alternative to Ella, Ellie etc. I wouldn't use either Elodie or Emilia if you don't want a popular name. Of course, many people don't mind or actually prefer a name that is popular. In which case, Elodie simply because Emilia will be confused with Amelia.

AriettyHomily · 09/06/2020 14:22

Love love love Elodie.
