Thoughts on name 'Malina' for a girl

Just wondering what you all think of the name Malina (please be as honest as possible, I won't be offended) I personally think it's lovely, but worried it is too out there.

Reading your post again, as I hadn’t got past the “mal” first time, in Italian, the literal translation of “Malina” would be “little bad one” with reference to a female !

If you change the spelling slightly, it alters the pronunciation slightly too. One of my besties is called Melina which I think is so so pretty. It doesn't sound like the poo!

I'm medical.for work it is the blood you get in poo.

Any word starting with Mal usually means bad.

Malevolent, malign, malcontent, malodourous, Draco Malfoy etc etc.

So it would be a no from me.

Awful. Sounds like "malign" and "malignant". Anything starting with "mal" has a really negative vibe because it means "bad" in Latin.

I teach a child called Malena (Mal-Enna) which is a similar name and as far as I know has no reference to bloody stools!
