Just throwing this out there.....
Cora
What are your honest opinions? I like names that cannot be shortened, so this fits nicely. Heard the name a few weeks ago and keep going back to it.
Only one slight concern though, is it too similar sounding to Noah?
Also, there was a young girl called Cora who danced with Jack in the film Titanic.

Thank you.

It’s having a revival. I knew of a few baby Coras

Lovemeloveyou · 30/05/2020 22:06

I love the name Cora, was my favourite for DD but DH didn't like it. I think it goes well with Noah.

Edenember · 31/05/2020 00:27

Beautiful name

WSLTitanic1912 · 31/05/2020 10:36

Thank you all for the lovely positive feedback and reassurance that it goes nicely with Noah. Noah and Cora.
A couple of other names I still like (Connie, Tillie and Heidi). BUT I think Cora is now the front runner. Unless theres any others you prefer from my list.
I can't use Matilda due to someone close using that and starting to wonder of Tillie too close too.

Out of the names you mention Cora is the nicest tbh although I do like Connie short for Constance

OnABeachSomewhere · 31/05/2020 11:59

Cora reminds me of apple corers, sorry! Personally I do also find it too similar to Noah. I like Connie, and another idea would be Cassia/Cassie.

Wherewhathow · 31/05/2020 12:54

I have an accent where I don't heavily pronounce R in words ending er, so the word corer sounds exactly like Cora, so as pp states I think apple corer and that puts me off the name. If you're in a different region maybe this isn't a consideration. I do also think Cor! as in the saying. Much prefer Coralie but with a shortening of Coral rather than Cora.

Bertyb7 · 01/06/2020 19:54

Love Cora, more than any of the other names mentioned. It is u usual but not to wacky and also love that it can't be shortened.

rena8282 · 01/06/2020 20:01

I love it but I'm biased - it's my daughter's name but with a K. It is another name for Persephone in Greek mythology who is wife of Hades. So just make sure you're happy with answering 'queen of the underworld' when people asks what it means. 😂

Whatsyourflava · 01/06/2020 20:09

Cora is the best from your list @WSLTitanic1912

I love it

BlueRaincoat1 · 01/06/2020 20:10

Cora, Clara and Cerys were top of my list if I had a girl. I didn't, and I won't now, but hearing the names still makes me happy. Lovely names.

CeibaTree · 01/06/2020 20:16

I know a Cordelia that shortens it to Cora. Lovely name, it makes me think of Cora from Last of the Mohicans.

sunsetandcocktails · 01/06/2020 22:36

We have a Cora and have had nothing but positive reactions and comments. We haven't met another one yet. And, people seem to have no trouble spelling or pronouncing it. Smile

MadCatLadee · 01/06/2020 23:08

Love

LuluJakey1 · 01/06/2020 23:12

I really like Cora and Cara but not Coral- I taught a Coral who was a nasty piece of work. I like Nina.

Toilenstripes · 01/06/2020 23:13

I don’t care for it. Maybe it’s time has come around again but it doesn’t evoke anything nice to me.

ohpleasesleepbabysleep · 01/06/2020 23:14

Another one with a Cora here. I still love it just as much as when we named her (she’s 2). We tend to lengthen it to Corabelle as a nickname rather than shorten it - for no particular reason, it just came out one day! Or sometimes Cors. But usually just stick with Cora. We live in London, fairly central, and I’m yet to come across another one. A few Doras and Noras though.

Tamsyn143 · 01/06/2020 23:26

I have a Cora! X

PetraRabbit · 02/06/2020 00:21

I have friends in the US and they really like names like Cora, Clara, Audrey. Expect it to get really popular.

Adelais · 02/06/2020 10:09

I have a 7 year old Cora. Lovely name though I’m a bit gutted it’s getting so popular now.

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 02/06/2020 22:30

I seem to be in the minority here but I hate it. All I can hear is a Sid James character going "Cor...look at 'er!!"
