Is it weird to name a child when a cat has the same name?

10 years ago when I lived with my dad we got a cat I named Ezra (I was 16 and loved pretty little liars haha) now I'm pregnant I still love the name - would it be weird for my baby to have the same
name as my dads cat GrinGrin

Well we had a cat when I was a child. It's still my favourite boy's name and has become very popular in the last few years. DS 2 has the name and I still love it!

Cheesypea · 29/05/2020 11:56

Its a nice name. If the cat doesnt live with you its less wierd. Go for it.

Blursula · 29/05/2020 12:21

Not at all. We had a cat called Kitty and it’s definitely on the list!

KitKat1985 · 29/05/2020 12:24

I think since the cat doesn't live with you most people are very unlikely to even realise the cat has the same name anyway so go for it.

Ezra is a lovely name, go for it I say!!

ComDummings · 29/05/2020 12:43

I think it’s fine

DramaAlpaca · 29/05/2020 12:44

Ezra is a wonderful name for a cat.

Spirali · 29/05/2020 12:57

Hmmm it might be a bit odd when you and little Ezra are round at your Dad’s... but it is a lovely name and it’d be a shame to not use it if you love the most!

MikeUniformMike · 29/05/2020 12:58

I'm not keen on Ezra as a name, prefer Felix.

Tillygetsit · 30/05/2020 00:46

Ezra is a great name. A very handsome and charming friend of dh is called Ezra. He's 35.

MyFuzzyBoy · 30/05/2020 11:10

My daughter does.
I had the sweetest little cat and I adored her name. She had been gone over 20 years before my daughter arrived.

Whatsyourflava · 30/05/2020 12:48

Ezra is a great name - go for it!

Pelleas · 30/05/2020 12:53

As long as you don't live with the cat, I don't see why not. Obviously it would be confusing for a cat in the same house to keep hearing its name, and possibly for the child once it was old enough to start learning its name.

Lilybea1995 · 30/05/2020 13:24

I don’t see an issue

35andThriving · 30/05/2020 21:20

It's fine Smile

slipperywhensparticus · 30/05/2020 21:23

I had a cat called Bob I got slated for giving him a "human" name then they met him he was definitely a Bob Grin

I would totally use the name

bridgetreilly · 30/05/2020 21:27

I'm not convinced, tbh. I just wonder how the child might feel if they find out they've been named after a pet. They might love it, but they also might feel a bit... unvalued? Not special? I wouldn't do it.
