So it seems myself and my DH can only agree on these two names Emily & Charlotte
I am aware these are very popular, have been for years and most likely will still be popular for many more, may seem pretty boring/standard to many of you however which do you prefer?

I much prefer Charlotte. Much prettier and more options for nn... Charlie, Char, Lottie, etc

MikeUniformMike · 29/05/2020 13:24

Prefer Charlotte, but both are fine. How about Anne?

DHMB20 · 29/05/2020 13:24

I've recently had a baby and named her Charlotte! She's incredible!

Ineedanewusername · 29/05/2020 13:26

Charlotte is lovely. Emily is beyond dull.

Singingatmidnight · 29/05/2020 13:33

I'd pick Emily, of those two, but both are nice.

Quizeerascal · 29/05/2020 15:09

I prefer Emily. Both lovely names though, being classic and popular can be a good thing, means they are great names and not a fad linked to a particular era, area etc

FluffyEggsontoast · 29/05/2020 16:14

Both such gorgeous names!! If you don't like Lottie or Charlie I'd probably pick Emily but having said that the two adult Charlottes I know never get shortened

LotusClover · 29/05/2020 16:44

Emily was extremely popular in the early 2000s, not sure about now. They're both lovely but Charlotte is more interesting to me.

Pleasenodont · 29/05/2020 18:35

I don’t think they’re hugely popular anymore, I know they were in the 90s when I was at school but there’s barely any in my DC’s school or at baby groups etc.

They are classic names that never really go out of fashion.

17caterpillars1mouse · 29/05/2020 21:02

I like both, but prefer Emily

I like the nn Emmy
I like Charley as a nn for Charlotte but don't particularly like Lottie, and they seem to be better and even worse Chaz! Which was the common nn when I was at school for Charlotte's

BeMorePacific · 29/05/2020 21:17

I prefer Emily. xx

BabyDust13 · 29/05/2020 21:32

I definitely prefer Emily 🥰

Fifthtimelucky · 29/05/2020 23:32

Both on my shortlist and I love them equally. I'd go for whichever sounds better with your surname!

Aclh13 · 30/05/2020 00:12

You could spell it different? Ie Emilie or Emmie, theyre on my list. I'm not keen on Charlotte every Charlotte I've met is a bit up themselves.

Staffori · 30/05/2020 00:31

Emily for me.Or Emilia, Emmeline, Emmy, etc.

IloveParmaViolets · 30/05/2020 07:59

Charlotte Emilia sounds good

captainraymondholt · 01/06/2020 18:49

Charlotte. But Emily is nice enough - I just know so many of them!

bibbityboo2 · 01/06/2020 21:49

Charlotte is lovely. I'm an Emily & I think my name is boring & dull!
