Really struggling

The only names I like for a girl are Harlow and Everly. Even then, I’m not blown away.

For a boy, Chester is ok.

The kids like Max, but I’m not keen.

Please throw suggestions my way, I am completely sick of searching through websites now.

Dont you find it a sad mindset giving your child a plain and dull name just so they can fulfil your ambition for them?

I love looking at my child and thinking how her beautiful name suits her 💗

I wouldn't want to look at her and think 'You don't really suit Beatrice, but I have hopes you will become a librarian or a history teacher.'

peperethecat · 25/05/2020 21:48

The only person talking about plain and dull names is you. You seem to think that any name that isn't a horrific Chardonnay type name is plain and dull.

Wolfgirrl · 25/05/2020 21:56

Chardonnay 😂😂 well Katherine IS dull! I have several in my family and they're the ones nobody wants to sit next to at parties.

I hate Chardonnay, you're the only person that keeps going on about it.

peperethecat · 25/05/2020 21:59

I would a million times rather be called Katherine than Teaghan. If you're a Katherine you have options. If you're a Teaghan you just have a stupid name and no way of disguising it.

Starsandglitter · 25/05/2020 22:03

Why is it ok for you to judge everyone that chooses a ‘plain and dull’ name? What if that parent desperately loves the name Beatrice and believes it is the most beautiful name for their child, why shouldn’t they use it just as someone should use an unusual name if that’s what they love. Your judgements seem just as unkind. And I’m not sure I understand the fuss about the name Teaghan, it’s just a normal name?

Destroyedpeople · 25/05/2020 22:04

Katherine is a fine name. Teaghan less so sorry.

Options because you're called Katherine 😂😂 I laughed out loud when I heard that! If you saw the Katherines in my life you would understand why 🤣

Teaghan is gorgeous, it means little poet in Gaelic and is quite old I think.

Also love Molly, that's a runner for me.

@Starsandglitter I was demonstrating to peper how one person's 'classic' is another person's 'dull and smells of wee'. Yes Teaghan is fine and lovely. You would've thought I suggested Tinsel or Vajazzle!

Destroyedpeople · 25/05/2020 22:12

I know a Deaghan but he is a boy....

Wolfgirrl · 25/05/2020 22:13

Deaghan is pretty horrid IMO

peperethecat · 25/05/2020 22:16

There are about ten different nicknames for Katherine which the child can choose to suit their personality. In my generation it was one of the most popular names at school (there were about four in my class) and they were all completely different, so basing your opinion of a very widely used name like that on someone in your family is ridiculous.

Teaghan is ugly and common.

peperethecat · 25/05/2020 22:17

But not common in the sense that lots of people use it. Common in the other sense of the word.

Wolfgirrl · 25/05/2020 22:19

Ugly and common😂😂

Oh dear OP I do hope you get a life soon!

Wolfgirrl · 25/05/2020 22:19

Peper of course not OP!

Wolfgirrl · 25/05/2020 22:20

I'm imagining you as someone like Terry from the Thick of It Grin

user1493494961 · 25/05/2020 22:22

Caleb and Faith are lovely names. Harlow and Everly are a bit down market in comparison.

Dreamcatcher34 · 25/05/2020 22:39

I really like loads of the suggestions on here. I especially like Violet. There are so many that go well with the names of my other children. Thanks everyone, keep them coming.

OP posts:
Destroyedpeople · 25/05/2020 22:46

Violet would go well with your other names

nowaitaminute · 25/05/2020 22:47

What about Evelyn? It's a classic! And for a boy Calvin, Reuben, James or Jamie.

peperethecat · 26/05/2020 10:23

Violet would be a lovely choice.

Wolfgirrl · 26/05/2020 10:35

Violet is nice but the nickname Vi puts me off.
