Hi, everyone! I love the name Lilith, but I can’t decide on the middle one.
Which one do you like best?

Lilith Rhiannon
Lilith Rose
Lilith Celeste
Lilith Raine (If you like this one, then how do you prefer to spell it - Raine or Rain?)

Other suggestions are welcomeSmile

Lilith jane
Lilith June
Lilith Jay
Lilith Leigh

from a feminist perspective she can be viewed as a bit of an icon

I agree. The bible is full of people doing things to be obedient and faithful which are ridiculous! Job and Abraham...

Lilith is strong at least.

Oddgirlout · 19/05/2020 19:34

I hesitate to add but further to previous poster, it's a bit controversial that Lilith appears at all in OT and the Adam bit is Jewish mythology rather than biblical. Not more or less important/relevant just accurate!

PeppaisaBitch · 19/05/2020 19:39

Wasn't she married to the devil? Bit of an odd choice considering the connotations especially pairing it with grace or similar.

FourPlasticRings · 19/05/2020 19:39

Fair enough @Oddgirlout.

I did think that after I'd posted but then just thought, 'Meh, close enough!'

FTstepmum · 19/05/2020 19:43

Yes, that's true. Lilith isn't mentioned at all in OT or NT. She's a baby-snatching demon from Jewish mysticism, making her debut into its tradition thousands of years after the OT was written.

Either way, despite her name, a pretty character she ain't.

TommyShelby · 19/05/2020 19:45

Lillith Rhiannon is a fantastic name.

NameChange84 · 19/05/2020 19:47

Lilith Raine sounds witchy and gothic if that’s what you are going for. Lilith Celeste is too hard to say.

FourPlasticRings · 19/05/2020 19:52

In the late twentieth century, self-sufficient women, inspired by the women’s movement, have adopted the Lilith myth as their own. They have transformed her into a female symbol for autonomy, sexual choice, and control of one’s own destiny.

I don't want to continue this little derail further than this, but the link above might prove useful if you wish to increase your understanding of the character.

Every girl's middle name seems to be Rose. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Esme?

FeedMeSantiago · 19/05/2020 21:59

Lilith:

Jane
Anna
Sophie
Morven
Morwenna
Seren
Wren
Rosa

If you fancy a Frasier theme:
Maris
Daphne

Love Lilith. I like Celeste a lot but it is a little harder to say than the others, even if one doesn't say full names all that often. So for ease of pronunciation, I'd pick Rhiannon. Don't go for Rose - if you're going for a strong and uncommon first name like Lilith don't detract from it by using the filler name of the decade.

A113y · 06/08/2023 01:34

Soooo you think Lilith is a bad name because you don’t know the full back story and who Lilith actually was? That’s cute please do continue telling me and these ladies how it’s a demonic name and not a powerful woman who refused to be under the command of Adam so she was banished from the garden of Eden so Eve could take her place AND we all know how that ended Adam told Eve to disobey God and eat and apple and we lost eternal life and is the reason we have to suffer from grief every time we lose someone we love! But please continue with the misinformation you have :) funny all strong independent women are called demons and other horrific name ;)

I think the name suits a longer second name...
Or a very short one...

Lilith Wyuna
Lilith Rosemary
Lilith Eliza
Lilith Magdalen
Lilith Rae
Lilith March
Lilith Mary
Lilith Miranda
Lilith Genevieve
Lilith Saoirse

VenusClapTrap · 06/08/2023 11:41

Lilith Delilah

@A113y Since you ask , as others have said, the story of Lilith is a much later addition to the traditional Judaeo-Christian 'core' of Biblical myths/legends/ stories. She is still, as you observe, yet another female personification of male distrust of female sexuality. (Reader, she tempted me ...) But, as such, I think her story has been influenced by so many different cultural groups over the centuries that a lot of rather nasty associations have accrued. Her whole existence has been used as an 'evil' justification for various normal/non-normal (choose your context) adult sexual desires and behaviours.

Speaking personally, I would not want to give a child a name that was so closely linked to all the above.

Niniane.

Ooh I’ve just seen this. I have a Lillith. She’s 23 and there were very few Lilliths about in 2000. In fact, a poster up thread has already suggested a middle name that I gave my daughter, after my friend who supported me throughout the birth.
DD loves her name , she always gets compliments. Many people think it’s Welsh! She’s been brought up to be insubordinate to men, just like the original Lillith. It’s often spelt with only one L in the middle but I preferred the other spelling, which is not uncommon.
I’ve probably outed myself here!

It’s a lovely name @8Eleanor but of course I’m
biased. 😀

HoofWankingSpangleCunt · 13/08/2023 09:08

Actually I meant she’s been brought up to not be subservient to men. She’s not the rabble rouser I implied.

My DD 20 is a Lillith. She was going to be a Lillith Rose but I ended up giving her a middle name from the directly above post. It is the name of my friend who was my birth partner.

I like Lilith Eve though.

You can’t have Lilith Eve! The demon Lilith is supposedly Adam’s first wife before Eve who now lurks the night murdering human infants. Not the nicest namesake although as a name (delegate from the myth) sounds nice. But don’t think it works with Eve - it seems as though it’s a statement about the story somehow or you connecting the name to the story deliberately, whereas I’m sure the demon Lilith is someone you don’t want a link to!

babysharkdoodoodedoodedoo · 15/08/2023 06:17

*separate, not delegate!

Yes, she’s great… her hobby of serial killing children aside 😂😂😂 it’s funny the way you’ve presented your comment so smugly as if you’re talking down to everyone and yet you’ve missed out a MAJOR part of the story.
