Hi, hope this is in the right place. Can anyone recommend any good baby name books. Ive had a look on Amazon but there is so many to choose from and i can't tell if they are good or not from mixed reviews.

Also has anybody given their DC a surname as i middle name? Been thinking of giving our baby my maiden name as a middle name.

ThanksSmile

I can't recommend any baby name books but if you ask your friends, someone probably has one you could borrow.

Your maiden name as a middle name is fine, A friend used her grandmother's surname as a mn for her DC, and it goes nicely.

Unless it sounds silly as a full name it's a great idea.

I think that it is traditional in Scotland to give a baby their mother's maiden name as a middle name.

If you look at the office of national statistics website, they with give you a list of names of all baby names, used 3 times or more, for each year, in England & Wales.

The most up to day info is for 2018. You need to look for Table 6 to see the full list of names. Hope that helps. Smile

Thank you both.
@MikeUniformMike I know a couple of people that i could possibly borrow one from. My maiden name is italian so once we have a name it will hopefully fo along nicely.

@35andThriving I never knew that it was traditional in Scotland, as i am Scottish. DH said it didn't work for me as i don't have a middle name 😆. Ill take a look at the website sounds useful

It's quite popular in Wales. Some surnames (e.g. Davies, Evans, Jones, Roberts and Williams) are very common, so the middle name gets used more. An example, would be Siân Lloyd or Siân Lloyd Jones married Dylan Roberts, and their DC were called Aled Lloyd Roberts and Sioned Lloyd Roberts.

I have just made the names up. They could well be real names

It's a great idea OP.

There are loads of baby name websites. Some of them may contain really strange suggestions- a few of the welsh name ones contain bonkers suggestions - so you might want to exercise some caution.
