How about Ezra?

Some people may have seen my other thread, which included a bunch of increasingly ludicrous names for our hypothetical baby boy (TTC). I loved all the names but probably wouldn't ever actually use them... Hmm

So... how about Ezra? It hit me, I love it, its unusual but not weird.

Thoughts?

Ezra Wytchwood is amazing! Sounds like the leader of some high-achieving wizard set at Hogwarts or somesuch Grin

scrivette · 13/05/2020 22:53

Great name and goes well with an unusual surname.

CorianderLord · 13/05/2020 23:21

Ezra makes me think of a book character from a dystopian novel. I like it but also think it's quite try hard

123Dancewithme · 13/05/2020 23:24

It’s a great choice!

MerryInthechelseahotel · 13/05/2020 23:25

Love it!

NicotineRushh · 14/05/2020 01:07

@DukeOfEarlGrey the whole witchy/magic vibe is one I am living for!Grin

@CorianderLord it is a very common name used in dystopian and fantasy novels, one such book is where I found the name. I can see why you think it's try hard, because it definitely is!Grin

Yeah I love it too!!!

whichteaareyou · 14/05/2020 07:40

Just seen what your surname is and I love it even more

PuntoEBasta · 14/05/2020 08:28

It isn’t particularly unusual, it’s definitely having a ‘moment’ and will probably date as a late 2010s / early 2020s name but it is fabulous!

Mucklowe · 14/05/2020 10:38

I know loads of little Ezras. Very popular in the Jewish community.

For me it's always sounded more like a girl's name.

Spirali · 14/05/2020 10:54

I like it, but it is nearly 'arse' backwards which might put me off

Okay, that’s just ridiculous Hmm

PetraRabbit · 14/05/2020 14:29

I always thought if it as a veryJewish name but it's now more typically known as a trendy name. I know a couple under 3. I can't see any reason not to use it.

Dyra · 14/05/2020 14:49

I know a couple of Ezras. It's a great name. Great surname too! Works so well together.

catinb0oots · 14/05/2020 14:57

Awful

NicotineRushh · 14/05/2020 20:14

@Mucklowe Yeah that doesn't surprise me, I was so excited about my badass name and after doing some research it seems Ezra is quite a biblical name!

Not that it matters to our decision, just interesting little fact Grin

I love it!
Would use it but DH isn't keen.

OVienna · 16/05/2020 09:22

Yes, go for it.

geojojo · 16/05/2020 17:37

I used to like it but it is so popular now, as much as Noah around this area. It a good solid Old Testament name though.

Destroyedpeople · 16/05/2020 17:39

Yes it's cool. I know an Ezra who is about 21.

NicotineRushh · 19/05/2020 21:11

@Treaclepie19 see convincing DH is the battle! Haha luckily we are still TTC so there's plenty of time for him to agree!

@NicotineRushh yep! Im almost 20 weeks pregnant so we actually have to decide. Our boys previously haven't had common names so I guess he's just not sure on Ezra!
