Thoughts on the name 'Drake'?

Basically as the title says.

DH really likes this name. I like it too, especially the nature connotation, but I know that it is more unusual.

I have never met a Drake, only know it from a TV show called 'Drake and Josh'.

What do you think of this name? Would you think it was a bit 'out there' if someone you knew named their child Drake?

Too close to Dracula (Drake would be irrelevant to a child born now and his music probably deemed old fashioned)

whywhywhy6 · 08/05/2020 23:10

No.

KoalasandRabbit · 08/05/2020 23:11

Duck, suspect would get teased.

Emmagen · 08/05/2020 23:14

Huh, I think my brain is broken I thought of Sir Francis Drake before "duck" Confused

ilikebigbuttsandicannotlie · 08/05/2020 23:16

I think of either the rapper or Joeys character on days of our lives from friends (dr Drake Ramoray)

DamnShesaSexyChick · 08/05/2020 23:20

Love it

TenShortStories · 08/05/2020 23:20

I'd say no.

What about Blake instead?

Thisismytimetoshine · 08/05/2020 23:21

The duck connection? It literally is a duck. 😄

ChockyBicky · 08/05/2020 23:46

First thought was Drake Circus the name of Plymouth Shopping Centre.

FelicityFlockheart · 08/05/2020 23:47

@paradisefalls oh dear.

Pelleas · 08/05/2020 23:54

Too close to Dracula

Yay for Count Duckula!

CloudsCoveredTheSky · 09/05/2020 05:51

"His birth certificate says I definitely do."

Well congratulations, your son will be so grateful, I'm sure.

ikeakia · 09/05/2020 05:59

He’s 10 ffs. He could tell me now if he didn’t like it. He’s got more chance of hating his surname which his sister has asked to change ASAP. Is it really so hard to believe that someone might actually like their name being that?

SpeckledyHen · 09/05/2020 06:01

Nope . I know one and he gets the piss taken big time poor sod .

CloudsCoveredTheSky · 09/05/2020 06:16

@ikeakia Look I'm not going to get into a massive debate, if you like it you like it, but as you can see from this thread, most people think it's stupid.

A lot of people slagged off my son's name too but I like it so whatever.

ikeakia · 09/05/2020 06:22

Well as long as he doesn’t subscribe to the belief that just because ‘other people’ do it then it’s ok to be a sarcastic cunt online then he’ll probably be ok despite the the stupid name.

EmpressLangClegInChair · 09/05/2020 06:35

Also, male ducks are really not very nice

This. Drakes are right bastards.

DanceWithYourBalloon · 09/05/2020 06:56

Dr Drake Ramorez 😊

MairzyDoats · 09/05/2020 07:00

Duckling as a pet name is adorable though 😊

CloudsCoveredTheSky · 09/05/2020 07:02

Chill out doll, it'll all be ok despite his stupid name.

EarlGreyT · 09/05/2020 07:08

It’s horrible.

Alonelonelyloner · 09/05/2020 07:29

Well if you compare it to Dracob it sounds ok, even if is the name of a famous rapper.

Choctimeout · 09/05/2020 07:35

RoscoePColtrane · 09/05/2020 07:52
