Just got to hope he's not a little pipsqueak or on the chubby side....

Ariel Goliath

VirginWestCoast · 08/05/2020 17:42

You could go for something more ordinary just in case he doesn't want to be Absalom/Algernon/Aardvark Goliath when he's older.
Adam can suit a variety of people. As can Andrew, Anthony or Alex.
The same cannot be said for Aardvark.

@VirginWestCoast yes I totally was thinking that but I still dont want a common name more like simple but not common either. if that makes sense

The reason why you are giving your child such an unusual middle name might have been mildly interesting. And it might have provides clues for what sort of first name you'd favour. It can't be that personal can it? You are asking for help.

Nah, can't be bothered.

According to the Jerusalem Talmud Goliath was born by polyspermy, and had about one hundred fathers.

Let’s hope OP’s DH is secure about his paternity.

Serintyjo · 12/05/2020 15:39

@RevolutionofourTime ahaha yes we are sure of the paternity

Good 😁

But please have a rethink about Goliath. It’s a dreadful name. I know you don’t want opinions on it, but here’s mine anyway.

Don’t name your child after a monster. Or if you must, go with The Hulk.

Serintyjo · 12/05/2020 18:04

@RevolutionofourTime he was not a monster.

Serintyjo · 12/05/2020 18:06

@RevolutionofourTime apparently theres different Goliaths.

RevolutionofourTime · 12/05/2020 18:12

6 foot 9, with an armour weighing 60 tons, and gets defeated by a much smaller guy. That’s not a good omen!

Serintyjo · 12/05/2020 18:25

@RevolutionofourTime last time I checked being defeated does not make you bad person. We are all defeated and if you think thats bad you should go have a talk with God who will definitely humble you. and I suggest if you dont like the name to just move on please and thank you.

I'm guessing from your choice of middle name that you're looking for something a bit less common than Alfie right ?

Here are a few I like :

Ayden (or Aeden, not the traditional spelling but I like it !)

Aaron (or Aeron, as above)

Astor (it's spanish or italian I think)

Asher (love this name, too bad it would not work in my country !)

Axel (I'm considering this name too !)

Annibal (if you like historical names ? Though sadly the horror novel kinda spoiled this name).

Achilles (might be a bit much with Goliath though)

Aspen

Asgeir (nordic version of Oscar, means "divine spear")

Antony (more common but nice reference to Mark Antony if you like historical figures. I loved Mark Antony played by James Purefoy on the show Rome).

Anders (more original than Andrew but not too out there, I don't think !)

Alistair (classic but nice)

Alexander (common, but Alexander the Great !)

MoreHairyThanScary · 13/05/2020 20:16

Amos

Malysh · 13/05/2020 20:21

Forgot :

Abel
Abram
Acelin
Ahren
Aeneas (if you want to stick to the mythology theme)
Ajax (see above)
Alberich
Alban (means "white")
Algernon (bit old fashioned maybe !)
Altaïr (if you're an Assassin's Creed fan... I love it but wouldn't dare use it myself !)
Ambrose (nice reference to the Arthurian myths)
Auberon
Aubrey

Please do let us know which one you pick in the end !
