Hiya,

Thoughts on Auron for a boy? Pronounced Au-ren/Au-run x

Auton is a baddie in Dr Who

Auron
Smartanimal · 06/05/2020 18:33

Sauron....

Mucklowe · 06/05/2020 18:40

Dreadful. Sounds like the villain from a Tolkien book.

MysteryFrog · 06/05/2020 18:54

Oren is similar, shorter sound at the start but less easy to confuse

Viviennemary · 06/05/2020 18:59

Another contender for the MN daftest name badge.

Mooncake2020 · 06/05/2020 20:55

@Viviennemary hardly it's a used Hebrew name 😂

@Smartanimal it's not pronounced ron at the end, doesn't like like Sauron

Ok but that's what a lot of people would say

StormCiara · 06/05/2020 21:02

Ah I didn’t know it was Hebrew and I read a fair bit of Israeli lit so it must be fairly unusual! If you like Hebraic names what about Yonatan (my favorite)

Mooncake2020 · 06/05/2020 21:06

With the S at the start it would sound like Soren, like the bread 😂

Final Fantasy fans?

Vincent is the coolest character in a Final Fantasy game and I like the name.

Or Sephiroth? Grin

YourVagesty · 06/05/2020 21:13

I like it. I also liked the suggestion of Oberon upthread.

BackforGood · 06/05/2020 21:20

Every single day of his adult life he'll be telling people, 'No, not Aaron, 'Auron, spelled...' which is going to get really, really tiresome

This ^ presuming you are in an English speaking country.

Newjez · 06/05/2020 21:27

Isn't that a brand of washing detergent?

IVflytrap · 07/05/2020 02:17

I would probably pronounce it with an -on sounding ending, if I saw it written down. Could you change the spelling to Auren? I think that would more likely get people to pronounce it correctly.
